Good Afternoon campers and I am glad to see we all made it threw Super Shoe 25. I have to say a big thanks to Gary and Jason I had a blast announcing and hanging out all weekend. Wow some things I really liked about this year would be the bike parade and coloring contest for the kids. What a great idea to do something for the young fans who will be the future of short tracks. The golf cart parade and scavenger hunt were also great ideas. The DJs nightly seemed to be the place to be and kudos to the staff for all they did to keep the show going. I also am a big fan of the new break out rule and think this made for a better show. Only a couple things I did not agree with ok well only one lol..... oil dry on the track when some cars took to time trials. Really hurt innocent drivers. Other than that what a show nearly 300 cars and some good I mean good racing. The crowd was unreal and it was an awesome feeling seeing the campground and parking lot packed all weekend long.
This week M 40 does almost the same show and hopes to have warmer weather. Friday we will host a " Run what ya brung" show paying $1000 to win and $200 to start with a $300 bonus to the driver who can set a new track record. Should be neat to see what some guys come up with it to do just this. Saturday and Sunday will be Super Shoe rules for the V8 cars the mini stock cars, and the fwd cars. Also on tap for the weekend will be bishop legends, mcr dwarfs, and gls super cups. It is going to be a weekend packed full of fun and good times. I will be on hand all weekend helping track mgmt put on the best show of the year. We sure hope to see a lot of fans and cars on hand and some great side by side racing.
Mottville Speedway has a super shoe rules late model race coming up on October 22nd and this is getting a lot of attention from everyone. Sponsorship money is coming in left and right and this is going to be so fun. I foresee a 12 car field of late models , street stocks, mini stocks, and fwds on hand for this show !!!
As racing winds to an end I look back at the year and think WOW we have come along way in 2011 and every track has learned some, lost some, and gained some. South Bend reopened full time and the Browns have done great work. Blowout at New Paris was jam packed and car counts weekly near 100. Super shoe saw the best crowd in years. Mottville hit huge car counts this year. Race fans spent more time on face book talking about racing then ever before. The web shows all winter saw 70 people come out to watch, 210 guests and 7 venues host the show.
We all though racing was dieing out and then 2011 hit and we have restored faith. Rookies at NPS had large numbers. Late Models saw 3 new rookies, Street Stocks saw over a dozen rookies, and same with the Mini Stocks. How awesome is it to see over 25 rookies in one year? IT WAS AMAZING!!!!
With this said you have 4 weeks of local racing left so get out and say good luck guys and good racing!
Sure hope to see you all at M 40 this weekend but until next time race fans we will see you at the races !
