Stateline Speedway Preview for June 19-20, 2015

Full entertainment weekend planned at Stateline Speedway Presented by Lite House Auto!

Busti, NY (June 17, 2015): A full weekend of entertainment is set for Stateline Speedway Presented by Lite House Auto for this Friday and Saturday with music by "Smokin 45" following ATV (and Side by Side) racing on Friday night at the "big" track, then first thing Saturday morning Stateline's Karting track will present its weekly show of fifteen classes of the best go-kart racing in the area.

Bill Rexford of nearby Conewango Valley, NY began racing in the region in the 1940s and raced with NASCAR starting in 1949. In 1950, driving for local automotive legend Julian Buesink, Rexford competed in 17 of 19 events and won the "Grand National" (now Sprint Cup) championship. At 23-years old, he remains to this day the youngest ever champion of NASCAR's top series. His only win came on May 30, 1950 at Canfield, OH in a 1950 Oldsmobile. Although Buesink owned all of Rexford's cars that championship season, three different makes were used, Oldsmobile for fifteen events, once in a Ford, and once in a Mercury. A total of six car numbers were used, 60, 20, 8, 80, 59, and 62! Those last two stats are unheard of in today's racing. Stateline will remember this unique racer this Saturday with the second in a series of three "Stateline Legacy Memorial Races".

The winner of the 35-lap event will collect $3000. Greg Oakes is the most recent winner in the Overhead Door of Jamestown championship chase and leads the standings by 148 points over Lloyd Moore Memorial winner John Lobb. John Volpe runs third, another 37-points back. Jason DuPont and Darrell Bossard fill out the top five in the standings. Two-time former champion Dutch Davies also has a win this season and defending champion Rob Blair has two wins.

The Shults Auto Group RUSH Crate Late Models had a wild finish in their feature last Saturday night when the leaders, Rob Pietz and three-time winner and two time former champion Damian Bidwell, got together on the final turn, allowing points leader Jason Genco to race by for the win, his first of the season. Bidwell is second to Genco in the season standings while Dave Shagla, Kyle Scott, and defending class champion Scott Gurdak fill out the top five. Max Blair also has a win, that coming on opening night of the season.

Greg Johnson won the first two nights of the season in the Sugar Grove Beverage E-Mods competition and leads the standings for the season championship over Ron Seeley, Butch Southwell, Justin Carlson (with one feature win), and Troy Carr. Rich Michael and Joel Watson also have wins.

Chris Ottaway leads Ryan Scott and Bill Reeves in the Limited Late Model standings. Ottaway, Scott, John Zimmerman, and Nathan Short all have a win.

Former champion Dan Nocero, with one win, leads Matt Kosinski, Michael Kosinski (3 wins), Jim Kibbe, and Ron Burgun in Sportsmen standings. Defending champion Ted Kosinski has the other win this season.

Anthony Marotto, although winless so far this season, leads the Street Stock standings over two-time winner Jason Covey with Guy Adams, Jason Dobson, and week two winner Mark Ramsey filling out the top five. Brian Crandall and Shaun Hooks are the other winners this season.

With four feature wins, Andy Proper is dominating the Challenger racing this season. He enjoys a huge 252-point edge at this early point of the year over Chris Horton. Thomas Cupp sits third in the standings with Travis Darling fourth and Ken Hultin fifth. Kurt Babcock is the only driver to crack Victory Lane other than Proper.
