PROMOTERS POINT-OCTOBER 13!
I got hit with a very bad flu bug this week-the worse bug I have ever had so this column is late!
So bad I actually had to crawl to the bathroom!
But I am getting gradually better and at this point looks like I might survive!
We are now done competing with the 3 day end of season shows!
Can't say we did great against them but we sure have had worse nights!
Saturday, it looked like Kevin Grubb would win his 2nd Mini Stock feature in a row but about half way the car overheated and Kevin pulled off!
This gave the win to Bobby Laughter, 2nd in the season points and it was Bobby's first feature win of the season!
George Flowers drove Kevin's back up car and said it was very loose and hard to handle.
It was the first time this season George has raced but he is working on a car for 2012!
Jack Pontius was there in a beautiful # 32 Street Stock. It had mechanical issues.
I understand this car was once owned by Al Maurer.
5 dates left on the 2011 racing schedule and if we get all 5 in we will have 32 for the season, very low for us but the economy dictates that!
Dave Logan is committed to keeping the PURE STOCKS at Mottville!
Dave says he will have 3 PURE STOCKS there this Saturday and he is sponsoring trophies for the PURE STOCKS for the 26th Annual Indiana-Michigan Challenge Cup and the Season Championship!
I have told Dave if he has 4 PURE STOCKS we will race them again in 2012!
For the Indiana-Michigan Challenge Cup and the Season Championship we will give trophies to the top 5 in features for Street Stocks, Mini Stocks, Pure Stocks and Mini Thunder Cars!
Seems like what follows I have said over and over until I am blue in the face!
There is no guaranteed pay-off for the Outlaw Late Model show on October 22!
Once again here is how this show started!
A group of OLM drivers approached me about running a show for them after the other tracks closed.
I told them there was no way we could afford such a show but they said they just wanted to have fun and would run for what they brought in.
So I agreed.
Since then we have picked up pledges of $1000 in sponsorships and pledges of $20 per lap for 10 laps which is terrific!
A fellow promoter told me several weeks ago that people would pressure me for a guaranteed pay-off but I needed to resist that pressure!
He sure was correct!
So one more time here, we will pay what the OLM bring in plus whatever sponsorship dollars we actaully take in by race time on October 22!
It is impossible to say what the pay-off will be since we do not know how many cars we will have or how much those cars will bring in!
I am thinking no more than 14 cars in the feature, although I might go with 15 but I do not want a crash fest!
I am guessing we will somewhere between 12 and 20 cars.
NO matter the number, it should be a fun day and that is what it is all about!
We will try to open at 2:30 for the OLM show but I do have a graveside committal service in the morning so doubt we can open any earlier than 2:30 but we shall see!
Well, the 2012 racing season is almost over!
5 dates left in 2011 so catch some action while you can!
