PROMOTERS POINTS-SEPTEMBER 15!
It was another good Sunday of racing at the Mottville Speedway last Sunday with a good car count, decent sized crowd and great racing!
Early predictions of rain proved to be wrong and it was actually perfect weather for racing!
We had 6 drivers there for the first time this season!
Rich Boal, who won the SS feature, was there for the first time since 2002!
It was about that long for Rodney Spencer, who finished 2nd.
Other first time street stockers included Michael Viulich and Brad Blckburn.
Young Casteen Everidge finally made to Mottville for the first time in 2011 with his MS and Ryan Mckinney was a first time Mini Stocker as well.
Addison Davis was a first timer in the MTC division.
Kenny Koscher of the M40 Speedway was present for the first time this season as well.
Kenny owns the #6 SS that Brad Blackburn, Sr. drives and apparently the plan for 2012 is to have young Brad Balckburn, Jr. run it full time at Mottville.
The Blackburns and Kevin Kosher were all at Mottville tonight so Brad, Jr. could hot lap.
Had a long talk with Kevin, its the first I have seen him since June.
14 year old Jacob Maynard has impressed everyone in the SS division and is already in 8th place in the point standings and only 14 points out of 6th!
Al Maurer returned from vacation to find that someone had taken his new tires off his SS while he was gone and replaced them with junk tires!
Al bought new tires this week so look him to be tough this Sunday!
Kenny Esmont has missed 3 races in a row but says he and his SS will be back this Sunday!
Shane Eldrdige purchased the #11 MS and brought it to Mottville and really dominated!
Shane works out of town and is gone for long periods of time so usually can only race about once per month.
But I have seen that car race at Mottville, Plymouth and South Bend this season and it never was as fast as it was Sunday at Mottville!
In a strange set of events, numbers 2,3 and 4 in the MS point standings were not at Mottville Sunday!
#2 Bobby Laughter had clutch problems and #4 Corky Knight went to a community going away party for his son who leaves for Afganistan soon.
So apparently because Corky was not there, brother Pat(#3) was not there even though Pat was about 3 miles away from the track and would probably have taken over 2nd place had he raced.
Pat may well take 2nd place this Sunday as Corky plans to race Mottville with his MS and his new SS truck!
JOe Gonzales won the MS feature the first time he came to Mottville but since then has had nothing but bad luck!
But he is 9th in the points and could move to 8th this Sunday.
Dave Logan now leads Jack Hurford by 7 points in the MTC standings.
I think we will have a pretty decent field of MTC this Sunday!
The work we have done at the track in the last three weeks is almost beyond belief!
First we had 8 new bulbs replaced in the track lights and 3 new fixtures.
Then Dave Logan got the tower next to the women's rest room in the pits working again and the pits are really bright now!
All 3 pit rest rooms were painted inside including the floors!
The pit rest room building and the pit tower were painted on the outside and the pit tower had 3 new windows installed!
This week the announcing tower, ticket booth and well house were all painted and the announcing tower now has 2 new windows facing south and a light for the steps on the south side!
The wife and I arrived at the track at 10:30 Tuesday morning and left at 9:30 pm!
Now we are about done with projects for the 2011 season except for painting the old pit pass booth to the far east end which I hope to do Saturday afternoon.
I do not forsee using it as a pit pass booth again but it might come in handy for storage and it is in decent condition and I want to keep it that way.
It now looks like October 22 for the Outlaw Late Model show with October 23 as the rain date!
Amazing but every single week-end until then is booked for the OLM!
This week-New Paris,Sept 24-South Bend, Oct 2-Kzoo, Oct 9-M40,Oct 15 Winchester.
So we will see how it goes October 22 and then the drivers can decide if they want us to run another show in April before the other tracks open.
Sunday Vickie Pearson went to a concert and Tony Eldridge sent me a message offering to take her place in turn 3 and on the track crew and I eagerly accepted!
As expected, Tony did a terrifc job!
Steve Woods, now 2nd in the SS points. had big time mechanical woes Sunday but has engine back together and will be at Mottville this Sunday!
Still 9 dates left on the racing schedule at Mottville for the 2011 season!
September 18 and 25, October 1,8,15,22,23,29 and 30!
This Sunday gates open at 4 with racing at 5pm!
Tell Judy she did a nice job on painting the ticket booth!
