Heyder Claims $400 Pay Day in Bugs-R-Gone Invitational

July 26, 2015

Dirt track racing would not be what it is without the fans that come out to support their local drivers. Saturday night on the Hill honored the importance of the fan as it was Fan Apprieciation night as well as the $400 to win Bugs-R-Gone truck invitational.

The JPR Auto & Tire, Winning Edge and A & B Roofing and Construction mini wedges had a ten car field all ready to hit the track. With two heats, it was Zoe Stafford and Braxton Wilson each picking up a win.

With the field set, the wedge 10-lap feature was underway. Jumping out to the initial lead was Stafford with Braxton Wilson in a close second. Fending off challenges, Zoe would work to maintain the top spot. However, eventually able to work his way around Stafford and go on to pick up yet another win this season was “The Dominator” Braxton Wilson followed by Zoe Stafford, Karyssa Beagle, Donnie Danley and finishing fifth was Reece Bollinger.

With a time of 15.236, it was “The Flying Ace” Corey Conley setting fast time in the Holmes Tire late model division which had a field of 15. Picking up the only heat race win was “The Moon Man” Thomas Baker, while Conley picked up the dash setting him on the pole for the night’s 25-lap feature event.

Bringing the field to the green, Conley would take the lead. With Conley out front a battle for second would ensue behind him between the 33X of Ty Myers and the 4H of Vic Hottinger. As the two would battle back and forth, Myers would get the advantage and get around Hottinger for second. However, not long after troubles would send Myers pit side. Back underway, it was Conley with the lead and Hottinger working to close the gap but unable to do so as the checkered would fly and “The Flying Ace” Corey Conley would pick up the win. Finishing third was TJ Watson, fourth was Mike Hutchinson, and fifth went to Craig Wolford.

A field of twelve made up the nights Finish Line Auto Body modified division, with “The Logger” Kevin Morehouse setting fast time with a 16.263. The heat race win went to “Stormin” Norman Aronhalt while Morehouse picked up the win in the dash.

With the field set, the green was out and it was Morehouse taking the lead. Looking in at the top spot was “The Toboso Bullet” Jimmy Smith who would make multiple attempts at reigning in Morehouse. However, after leading every lap from green to checker, it was “The Logger” who would pull a 4.5 second lead and go on to pick up the feature win. Rounding out the top five was Jimmy Smith, Robin Duston, Hilton Eppley and Bruce Miller.

Out next were the Holmes Pest Control street stocks with a 14-car field. Setting fast time for the division was Mike Lonas. Heat race winner was Brian Simpson with David Potts picking up the dash win, setting himself on the pole of the night’s feature event.

As David Potts brought the field down the backstretch to the start, the green was out and it was “Chilly” Bob Chilcote to the lead. Making a move to the front was Mike Lonas, however, after contact with Kevin Potts he would be forced to restart tail. With the green out once more, Chilcote continued to remain out front going on to pick up his second feature win this season. Chilcote was followed by Kevin Potts, Dustin Daugherty, Mike Lonas and Brian Simpson.

Nine trucks made up the field for the $400 to win Bugs-R-Gone invitational. Winning the only heat for the night was Rolly Heyder. With Heyder setting the pace to the green, he would take the lead over the rest of the field. Meanwhile, battle for positions second through forth would ensue as Joey Heyder and Travis Winterringer would work their way around Josey Lillibridge. Nevertheless, after putting a half of a track between himself and the rest of the field it was Rolly Heyder picking up the $400 pay day. Second went to Joey Heyder, third to Travis Winterringer, fourth to Josey Lillibridge and fifth was Jerry Gardner

The up and coming mod lite division had a field of 13 with Tracy Fritter and Joe Burkhead each picking up a heat race win. With Fritter on point, the green was out for their feature event. An early pass, from the fourth place starting position, Nick Crider would take the lead. Caution would come out as Tanner McLoughlin would lose it in turn four and head pit side. Back under green, Crider was once again in the lead and that was where he would remain picking up the win. Second went to Tracy Fritter, third to Brandon Shaw, fourth to Joe Burkhead and fifth to Brian Stuhldreher.

Last division for the night was the Winning Edge Auto Body mini stocks with a 21-car field. In three heat races winners were Terry Adkins, Blaine Markey and Kevin Markey. As the green came out for their 12-lap feature event it was Terry Adkins who would jump out to an early lead. Nevertheless, the first week back in his own car, it was Blaine Markey who would challenge Adkins for the top spot. As the two would battle lap for lap for position, Jerry Adkins would work his way through the field from his ninth place starting spot. After a hard fought battle, it was Terry Adkins able to hold of Blaine Markey for the win. Finishing third was Jerry Adkins, fourth was Kevin Markey and fifth was Jason St. John.
