Hello Racing Community I have not written my column in awhile trying to decide if people like written columns and articles more than a racing video column? I am thinking people like something to read while on break and lunch at work and during downtime needing something to read while at the doctors office or at the mechanic? The jury is still out on this one but I think race fans want video coverage as well! I do enjoy both to some degree so here goes…
Congratulations to Mark Tunny from Indianapolis on winning the 31st Annual Figure Eight Madness 50 Lap Feature Saturday Night at Sportsdrome Speedway in Jeffersonville Indiana. Ben Tunny,Mark Tunnys brother ran the #86 Shawn Smith owned street stock in the Affordable Street Stock 75 Lap Feature Saturday Night as well. I love it when my hometown driver’s travel and make a name for themselves outside of the Indianapolis Speedrome. The Tunnys ability to drive speaks for themselves and shows there competitive on any track they race on.
There is alot of racing this weekend to take in and enjoy. Sorry I wanted to go to Winchester Speedway this weekend but my mortgage must come first. I wish all my CRA Street Stock and late model sportsman guy’s the best of luck this weekend at Winchester Speedway! Congratulations to Frankie Oakes winning the Thunder Car feature at Shadybowl Speedway Saturday night August 31st. Frankie is a pleasure to chat racing with as I talked with him at Mount Lawn Speedway and Anderson Speedway this racing season.
I had a blast at Sportsdrome Speedway in Jeffersonville Indiana Saturday Night. Allan Williams Jr. Won the Affordable Street Stock 75 feature Saturday Night. I have photos from the pit area from Sportsdrome Speedway on the Mid American Racing News page on face book. One thing I do appreciate are the handrails being installed in each grandstand aisle which really helps when you bring blankets,a jacket and a stadium seat to stay comfortable on a cool night at the races!
There are tons of racing events coming up Saturday Sept. 14th. Anderson Speedway has A 100 Lap Thundercar Feature. Lucas Oil Raceway has the CRA Fall Brawl Nationals with events going on Friday,Saturday and Sunday next weekend! The Oswego Speedway style supermodifieds and winged sprints have features on Friday Sept 13th. For more information please contact Dave Duncan on facebook. I used to watch Dave race in IMCA Modifieds at Mount Lawn Speedway and Anderson Speedway back in the day… Dave Duncan also has a CRA Late Model Sportsman car as well.
Racing season is almost over. Please support weekly local short track racing as much as you can while you Can! None of us are guaranteed tomorrow in this life. Let’s enjoy what track’s and racing we do have and stay positive about racing.
