A mid afternoon downpour soaked the racing surface of Wayne County Speedway Saturday afternoon but the track crew was able to work the track back to close to being in race shape but another shower at the bottom of the five o’clock hour followed by a continuous heavy drizzle ended the chances of any races taking place Saturday night. It is the 7th time this season that rain has completely wiped out any racing to happen.

On the racing card for this Saturday, July 13 will be a Fast Four racing program featuring the Pine Tree Towing & Recovery Sprints, the Malcuit Tavern Super Late Models, the McKenzie Concrete Super Stocks and the JOYRIDE Transport Mini Stocks as they will all be vying for O’Reilly Auto Parts ‘Race to the Championship’ points. In the Pine Tree Towing & Recovery Sprints, two time feature winner Dean Jacobs holds the point lead by 38 points over Trey Jacobs. Clay Riney and Andrew Palker are tied for third while just 2 points behind them are Danny Mumaw and Henry Malcuit tied for fifth. Doug Drown, who has two feature wins also, has a 14 point advantage over six time WCS Champion Ryan Markham as J R Gentry, Charlie Duncan and Cody Scott fill out the top five in the Malcuit Tavern Super Late Models. With four wins in the McKenzie Concrete Super Stocks, Drown has a huge 51 point lead over Dave Uhler as Brandon Craver, James Stanley and Don Rutt are in the top five. Doug Hensel has a 32 point cushion over Brad Hensel in the JOYRIDE Transport Mini Stocks with Wayne Newbury, Wes Staley and Wyatt Zimmerman rounding out the top five. It will also be the Stake’s Shortstop ‘Summer Series’ for the Super Stocks and the NewFast Motorsports ‘Summer Series’ for the Mini Stocks this Saturday night.

On Saturday, July 20th, ‘Orrville’s Historic Oval’ will have the Malcuit Tavern Super Late Models in a make up Attica Raceway Park/Wayne County Speedway Series race plus regular O’Reilly Auto Parts ‘Race to the Championship’ points, the McKenzie Concrete Super Stocks and the JOYRIDE Transport Mini Stocks will do another ‘Summer Series’ and regular points night. The Modifieds will try to get their first race of the season in at WCS as they have been rained out three times this year. The Mod Lites have been added to the racing card for this night as they were rained out this past week end.

The fifth annual Buckeye Late Model Dirt Week will roll into town on Saturday, July 27th for the $4,000 to win Hans and Don Gross Memorial. Duane Chamberlain, Jeff Babcock, Doug Drown and Chub Frank have been the previous winners. This will also be the finale for the Attica Raceway Park/Wayne County Speedway Series. It will be a full program of racing with the Pine Tree Towing & Recovery Sprints, the McKenzie Concrete Super Stocks and the JOYRIDE Transport Mini Stocks will also be in action.
