(Winnegamie Home Builders Association (WHBA) of Winnebago and Outagamie County returns as series sponsor for 2nd straight year)

(Kaukauna, WI)  – Back by popular demand twice in 2019 – the “Pavement Pounder” dirt sportmods at Wisconsin International Raceway in Kaukauna.

The “Pavement Pounder” series will host two events featuring the local dirt sportmods. The “Pavement Pounder” series events will be run on Thursday nights June 27 and August 22, respectively.

The Winnegamie Home Builders Association (WHBA) of Winnebago and Outagamie County has returned as the title sponsor for the “Pavement Pounder” series for the second straight season.

During four events on WIR’s quarter-mile oval more than two dozen open-wheeled racers scrapped and traded paint during the past two seasons – giving the regular “Thursday Night Thunder” fans a new and exciting product on the track. “We usually see an influx of dirt track fans to our track for these shows and that’s a good thing,” said Fox River Racing Club president Tom Gee. “The whole idea is for a sportmod driver to make minimal adjustments to his or her car and come out and have fun for a couple of nights.”

This year in lieu of a point fund after the final race the driver’s feature payout per night has been boosted across the board. Woody’s Sign in Sturgeon Bay will once again offer $300 off of a car’s vinyl lettering package through a random drawing of drivers who compete in both shows.

Waupun’s Jeff Steenbergen captured the first ever Pavement Pounder event in 2017. Appleton’s Brock Saunders captured a pair of victories en route to winning the 2018 points title. Omro’s Kevin Bethke also captured a feature win in 2018.

The rules for the “Pavement Pounder” series in 2019 will be the same as 2018 which includes drivers running the same tires they compete with on local tracks. A maximum left side weight rule and minimum ride height rules will be enforced same as in 2018.
