PORTAGE, Wis. (June 3, 2019) – This Saturday June 8 the TUNDRA Super Late Model Series Powered by Wisconsin Potatoes will roll into Marshfield Motor Speedway for the Bev Aschenbrenner Memorial Presented by River Valley Bank and A&A Lock Service. Who will roll out of town with the trophy is the question on everyone’s mind.

Last season’s TUNDRA event was dominated by Colin Reffner. After setting fast time, Reffner picked his way through the field. Once he was out front, there was little hope of catching him and taking away his first TUNDRA victory.

However, the day may have been different if not for mechanical issues on Casey Johnson’s machine. Johnson looked comfortable out front, but had an issue with the fuel pump at the midway point of the race. The eventual Champion suffered his biggest setback of the season that day. If Johnson can finish off the job this year, he could pad his early-season point lead.

Another strong competitor in last year’s stop at Marshfield was Justin Mondeik. After a spin on lap one, Mondeik started the 60-lap main at the tail of the field. He raced his way back to a Third Place finish and at times looked like he was going to take the runner-up spot. This year he’ll hope to have another strong showing at one of the tracks closest to home.

This year’s event will bring back a past Marshfield TUNDRA winner in Eugene Gregorich Jr. Gregorich won TUNDRA’s first event at the half-mile in 2013. He will be driving the Wisz Racing 1W. He won’t be the only possible spoiler either as local driver Dean Lapointe is poised to make another start with TUNDRA.

Several drivers have already tasted success at Marshfield this season. John Beale was victorious in this weekend’s All Star 75. Darek Gress and Chad Butz had strong runs in CWRA action at Marshfield, as well.

Several new faces will be joining TUNDRA for Round Two. Luke Westenberg, Brock Heinrich, and Jake Carpenter have added their names to the expected entry list. Corey Jankowski (Steve Apel), Joel Thiesen (Andy Monday), Mike Egan (Lowell Bennett), and Neil Knoblock (Dennis Prunty) will tag in for their WIR partners.

TUNDRA will be joined by the Midwest Compact Series, Bandits, and 2-man Cruisers. Fan gates open at 3:30, qualifying is at 4:30, and racing begins at 6.
