NELSON CAPTURES WILD NORWAY SPEEDWAY LATE MODEL MAIN

(Norway, MI) May 31 – Former track champion Troy Nelson of Antigo, WI climbed behind the wheel of the Coleman Machine 119 and survived a few yellows and dodged a bad wreck to snag the Coca Cola late model feature flag Friday night at Norway Speedway.

Scott Stanchina, Bruce White, Nelson and Kris Kelly went nose-to-tail for several circuits when Nelson grabbed the lead on lap 21. Kelly stormed into second with ten laps remaining and began reeling in Nelson. With four laps to go Kelly got tapped by another car and while his car was parked in turn four Tyler Wusterbarth t-boned Kelly. Both cars suffered significant damage but were unhurt.

Nelson cruised to victory.

Defending Auto Value super stock champion Tim Schultz of Vulcan, who earlier in the night earned quick time, successfully defended his division title by winning the feature. Schultz fought off a tenacious Andy Gerwig to capture the win.

Kingsford’s Jade Novara brought the crowd to it’s feet, capturing her first career 141 Auto stock car main. Novara fended off fellow lady racer Michelle Janczewski at the checkers.

In Ken’s Sports sport truck action the Barglind brothers of Kingsford dominated in the A main, with Brent winning and his brother Brad taking second. Faithorn’s Elliot Reid emerged triumphant in the stock four main event.

Racing resumes next Friday June 7. The Sport truck class will be part of the show that gets underway at 7 p.m. Valley Med Flight will sponsor the night and a kart exhibition race will also take place.  Please check our website norwayspeedway.com and our page on Facebook for further information or email ostermannjohn@hotmail.com.
