FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NORWAY SPEEDWAY FANS SHOULD PLAN EXTRA TIME FOR TRAVEL TO RACETRACK IN ‘19 (Bridge to Norway, Michigan on US-8 to be closed this summer)

(Norway, MI) May 28 – Fans coming south to attend the weekly stock car races at Norway Speedway may want to allow a little extra travel time on Friday nights in 2019.

That’s because the bridge on US-8 by the Wisconsin/Michigan border will be closed for the summer for repairs. The work will require detouring traffic. Traffic on northbound US-8 will be detoured via US-141 through Niagara, Wisconsin and on to US-2 near Quinnesec. The detour will be reversed for southbound traffic.

Weekly Friday night racing kicks off May 31 sponsored by CJ Graphics, Bimbo’s Pizza, Longbranch Saloon and Proformance Pros. The grandstand opens at 5 p.m. Time trials begin at 5:45 p.m. with the first green flag of the ’19 season flying at 7 p.m. Coca Cola late models, Auto Value super stocks, 141 Auto stock cars and stock fours will compete weekly while the Ken’s Sports sport trucks will battle on roughly an every other week basis.

The Dickinson County Racing Association (DCRA) would like to thank the many sponsors who’ve been a part of the weekly Friday night program. They include Island Resort & Casino, Hoosier Tires, Five Star Bodies, The Thirsty Whale Bar & Grill, The Knight Owl Bar & Grill, Pembine Sport & Lawn, Okler Roofing, Stateline Chevrolet Buick GMC, Wendricks Truss, Bink’s Coca Cola, 141 Auto Sales & Service, Auto Value Parts Stores, Sayklly’s Candies, Iron Range Farm Bureau, Lena Sod Farms, The Big 10 Sports Bar, Pomps Tire Service, Valley Med Flight, Aurora Liquors, Neville Guitars, Kubick Aviation, Redline Sport & Marine, River Valley State Bank, Nine Lakes Sport & Marine, U.P.
