So far this season at Wayne County Speedway, rain has become a nuisance as out of the scheduled seven racing events, only opening night back on April 13th has not been affected by the rain. It was three straight weeks of showers stopping the gates from opening and then on May 11th the wet stuff showed up as the Malcuit Tavern Late Models were finishing their feature and continued on to postpone the McKenzie Concrete Super Stocks and the JoyRide Transportation Mini Stock features until the next week. With the World of Outlaw Morton Buildings Late Models in town on May 18th a rain shower hit the track just before their qualifying but it was not enough rain to wipe out the action as the track crew got the track back into racing shape. Then this Saturday with the Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions Sprints ready to take on the 3/8 mile oval, a very heavy rain with 50 mph winds hit the area just past four o’clock and the track crew went back to work on the track but another heavy rain shower hit just before 6 pm, wiping out any chance of racing for the night. It is the second time this season that the ASCoC has been rained out at WCS. A Monday, September 2nd make up date has been posted for the All Star sprints making it a double header racing date as the day before, Sunday, September 1 will be the Pete Jacobs Memorial with the Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Stars.

The month of June racing card at ‘Orrville’s Historic Oval’ will start this Saturday, June 1 with O’Reilly Auto Parts ‘Race to the Championship’ points up for grabs for the Malcuit Tavern Super Late Models, the McKenzie Concrete Super Stocks and the JoyRide Transportation Mini Stocks as the Modifieds will make their first visit of the season. It will also be race four of the Attica Raceway Park/ Wayne County Speedway Late Model Series. After three races in the series, two time series winner, Doug Drown has a 17 point lead over three time series winner, Ryan Markham. Jeff Warnick, Justin Chance and Mike Bores rounds out the top five in points with three races to go in the ARP/WCS series.

The other two class’ will have more to run for as the Stake’s Shortstop Summer Series will begin for the McKenzie Concrete Super Stocks and the Newfast Motorsports Summer Series goes green for the JoyRide Transportation Mini Stocks. This is a four race series that will pay the top three in points additional money at the end of the season.

Saturday, June 8th will be a Fast Four Racing Program for the Pine Tree Towing & Recovery Sprints, the Malcuit Tavern Super Late Models, the McKenzie Concrete Super Stocks and the JoyRide Transportation Mini Stocks racing for Mid Season Championships.

The Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Sprints will be back on Monday, June 17th for the Ohio Sprint Speedweek and the Duffy Smith Memorial for a $5,000 to win feature, then they will turn right back around on Saturday, June 22nd for the Speedweek Finale that will pay $10,000 to win. The McKenzie Concrete Super Stocks and the JoyRide Transportation Mini Stocks will also be on the racing card that night.

The month of June will wrap up on the 29th with another Fast Four Racing Program and the second Kids Big Wheel and Bike Races.
