RACHEL MEYERHOFER TEAMS WITH COUSIN ANDREW MEYERHOFER IN WIR SUPER STOCK TITLE DEFENSE (Other divisions titles potentially up for grabs)

(KAUKAUNA, WI ) – Brillion’s Rachel Meyerhofer has every intention of defending her 2018 super stock title at Wisconsin International Raceway in Kaukauna – only this season she’ll battle with the help of a teammate.

Meyerhofer didn’t have to look far for her racing partner, either. Meyerhofer’s cousin Andrew Meyerhofer will split the driving duties in the number 21 super stock in the quest for the track title. Andrew Meyerhofer is no stranger to the super stock class, having competed in it in the past. Andrew has also raced locally on the dirt with a sport mod and is also running in the Mid American stock car series.

Other drivers returning to do battle regularly on the ¼ mile, paved oval this year in original “Detroit Iron” include Rachel’s Uncle Dave Meyerhofer of Hilbert, the team of George Schwalbach of Menasha and Terry Van Roy of Darboy, Kaukauna’s Randy Theimer, Omro’s Larry Raygo, Greenleaf’s Jeff Treml and Kaukauna’s Jimmy Wilson.  The Howard team will have three machines battling out of their stable in ’19 including Ed, Trev and Derek Howard.

A total of 24 different super stock drivers earned points at WIR on Thursday nights in 2018.

While Meyerhofer plans to defend her super stock crown there is a distinct possibility that new champions will be crowed in the quarter-mile late model, Sizzlin’ 4’s and Figure 8 classes.

Appleton’s Andy Miller will not defend his Sizzlin’ 4 title due to what he referred to as “rule changes” but does plan to run the Red, White and Blue races. 47 different Sizzlin’ 4 drivers earned points in Thursday night action in ’18.

In 2018 13 different WIR ¼ mile drivers earned points with last year’s champion Cory Kemkes of Appleton saying it’s “yet to be determined” if he will defend his title. Same goes for Kaukauna’s Craig Vandewettering who does plan on competing in the Figure 8 class again but just unsure how frequently.  Vanderwettering has won the division six out of the last seven seasons. A pair of newcomers in Appleton drivers Josh Anthony and Matt Bauer will be new additions to the division that “Meets them in the Middle!” 11 Figure 8 drivers earned points in ’18.

Tuesday night oval practices are slated to begin on May 7 with Saturday, May 18 serving as the annual FRRC practice and inspection day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Spectator admission is free that day.
