ST. HELENA, Calif. (April 8, 2019) – Rico Abreu’s weekend in Arizona ended shy of expectations, but the knowledge acquired during his visit to the Grand Canyon State is valuable.

Abreu’s trip to Arizona was complete with back-to-back appearances with the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series, first visiting USA Raceway near Tucson on Friday, April 5, followed by a trip to Arizona Speedway near Queen Creek on Saturday, April 6. The St. Helena, California-native finished 12th and 15th, respectively, during his feature starts, and although finishing outside of the top-ten, Abreu made progress at USA Raceway, as well as Arizona Speedway.

When the weekend’s dust settled, Abreu advanced seven positions during feature competition with the Greatest Show On Dirt, climbing ahead from 15th to finish 12th on Friday, followed by a bounce from 19th to 15th on Saturday.

“Not the results we were working for, but we learned a few things, so that’s always a positive,” Rico Abreu said, driver of the Rico Abreu/Curb Agajanian Racing/Abreu Vineyards/Curb Records/Southern Pacific Farms/Lucas Oil/Priority Aviation/No. 24 sprint car. “My guys work really hard and I appreciate what they do for this race team. We’ll try again next weekend when we head back to Stockton.”

Rico Abreu will return to competition on Friday and Saturday, April 12 & 13, with an appearance at the Stockton Dirt Track in Stockton, California. Coinciding with the annual Asparagus Festival at the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds, Abreu will enter the 2nd Annual Asparagus Cup during the upcoming weekend, joining the Sprint Car Challenge Tour (SCCT) 360c.i. sprint cars for back-to-back nights of competition.
