Another hot night of racing at NAPA Jani Auto Parts Wayne County Speedway on Malcuit’s Tavern night would see Ryan Markham reclaim the Kar Connection Super Late Model points lead with his win as Paul Holmes swept the action in the CorBon Super Stocks while Jimmy Smith outdueled Dan Davies for the Modified win and Wes Staley hung on for the WQKT 104.5 Mini Stock win.

Cody Scott would take the pole position starting spot to set the pace for the first four laps with Markham right in his tire tracks on the opening lap. Markham and his H & T Demolition, Elite Care Auto Center and Dzugan Realty #5m would move to the high groove as Scott utilized the low lane and Markham would take the lead on lap five. Doug Drown had moved into third from his 8th starting position on lap four to hound Scott for second. Markham would start to pull away as Scott and Drown battled for second. Drown would take control of second on lap 13 but would not be able to track down Markham in the closing laps. Scott’s machine slowed on lap 20 and he would drop out at that point as Brad Malcuit inherited third with Mitch Caskey and Matt Irey in tow with Justin Chance also in the mix for a top five finish. Markham would take the checkered flag, his second of the year, with almost a half a straightaway gap over Drown. Malcuit would finish third with Caskey scoring his second straight fourth place finish as Irey filled out the top five. Markham and Scott bested the heat races as Larry Bellman pocketed the Accu Force Hard Charger award.

Tye Twarog Racing chipped in with sponsorship for the CorBon Super Stocks and the Modifieds to make each of their feature winners collecting $1,000 plus CABO Sun Tanning added $200 for the dash win and $100 for the Hard Charger in the CorBon Super Stocks. Canton’s Paul Holmes was the benefactor of most of the extra money as he won his heat, took the dash which earned him the pole for the feature and went flag to flag for his third win of the season aboard the CorBon, D L Rutt Builders and JET #68. It was a tight race behind Holmes as Jordan James, Bob Daugherty, Dustin Daugherty, Gary Hensel Jr. and Chris Albright were changing positions lap after lap. The race was red flagged on lap five when Al Farris did a Dukes of Hazzard leap over the guardrail in turn one and two but some how stayed up right and came back onto the track via the utility road behind the turn and back stretch with out stopping, but did suffer a flat tire, which he replaced and stayed in the race. With four laps to go Dustin Daugherty was second behind Holmes but got sideways and that allowed Jordan James to move into second where he would finish and Bob Daugherty would power past Hensel Jr. on the last lap to take third and win the Cabo Sun Tanning Hard Charger award. Hensel Jr. finished fourth with Albright taking fifth from Dustin Daugherty. Brandon Craver was the other heat winner.

The Modifieds were making their season debut at ‘Orrville’s Historic Oval’ as they were rained out back in April and they would put on the best feature of the night as Tobasso’s Jimmy Smith would be in a race long duel with Dan Davies. Smith would start on the pole with Davies right behind but the two would use different lanes of the racing surface all race long. Smith would take the high line while Davies would hug the bottom groove and they would run side by side for most of the race with Davies being the early leader for the opening four circuits until Smith took over the next 6 laps. Nathan Loney was lurking behind them but he would spin out on lap 7 with D J Cline and Kyle Brown moving up a position. The second half of the race would see Davies reclaim the lead for laps 11- 13 but Smith and his Ports Petroleum #r88 would take the point on lap 14 and never relinquish the lead again. Davies ended up second with Cline third and Brown in fourth as Robert Page rounded out the top five. Heat winners were Smith and Loney.

Stephen Crowe led the opening lap of the WQKT 104.5 Mini Stock main but Canton’s Wes Staley would take over after that and then hold off challenges from Cory Staley early in the race, from Jordan James in the middle portion of the feature and a late challenge from Doug Hensel before parking the Thirsty Cowboy, McBreaty and NewFast Motorsports #73s in the Summit Racing victory lane for the first time this season. Doug Hensel would grab second as James finished third. Brad Hensel secured fourth with Cliff Staley taking fifth. Dustin Bedlion scored the last chance win as heat winners were Doug Hensel, Sean Rush and James.

NAPA Jani Auto Parts Wayne County Speedway will be back in action next Saturday, July 21st with another Fast Four racing program with the Ohio Sprint Car Series and the Pine Tree Towing & Recovery Sprints will headline the night with a $2,500 to win feature plus the Kar Connection Super Late Models, the CorBob Super Stocks and the WQKT 104.5 Mini Stock on the racing card.
