Crystal Motor Speedway celebrated the Fourth of July a day early, with a nice grandstand crowd and a pit full of racers.

In the KFC Late Models, Ryan VanderVeen of Six Lakes took the top spot over Logan Arntz from Vestaburg and Kyle Borgman of Muskegon. Jason Playter Jr of Saranac and Michael Archer of Jackson won B main events and heat wins were picked up by VanderVeen, Carl Ries of Blanchard, Travis Stemler, Ionia, and Zack Olger from St. Johns.

 

Chad May from Rockford took the Lane Automotive IMCA Modified event with Kody Johnson from Vestaburg and Mitchell Hunt of Greenville following. Brad Roberts, AJ Ward, and Nick Stormzand picked up heat wins.

 

Doug McKeown Sr of Sidney won the Next Level Graphics & Design LLC Street Stocks with Teven Kress coming in second and Ryan Alexander taking third. Cade Schafer from Mt. Pleasant grabbed the B event, while Kevin Rohn of Stanton , Tom Harrison from Milliken, and Kress gathered up heat wins.

 

Kolby Rohn from Sheridan won the Races On The Web Flinn Stock event over Al Ridgeway, Sheridan, and Mike Currier from Fenwick. Rohn and Rusty Sowles of Greenville won their heat races.

 

Chris Malek of Alma won the Port City Racing Pro Stock event, followed by Jeremy Spencer of Deford, and Blake Hollenbeck from Greenville. Spencer and Malek also took home heat wins.

 

Paul Grosnickle of Lansing went home with the Engine Pro Pro Truck event, followed by Curtis Rice of Muskegon, and Kenny Dittenber from Carson City. Grosnickle also took the heat event.

 

Mikah Kurkowski from Sidney won the 6 to 9 year-old feature of the Greenville Daily News Mini Wedge beginner’s division, with Zayden Buskirk from Crystal and June Dora of Fenwick grabbing third. Eli Fellows and Jazzlyn Hale, both of Crystal, picked up heat wins.

 

In the ten to fourteen year-old event, Andrew Bogart of Howard City took the win over Zayden Olger from St. Johns and Corcoran of Rockford. Bogart also picked up the heat win.

 

Racing resumes Saturday night with all seven divisions, all sponsored by C.L. Trucking and Excavating of Ionia. Gates open at 4:30 PM with racing at 7:30PM.
