BROWNSBURG, Ind. (June 18, 2018) – Fargo’s Donny Schatz returned to his native state of North Dakota during the recent weekend and gave his home fans something extra to celebrate, ending the two-race, World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series invasion with a pair of podium finishes.

Schatz, the current World of Outlaws championship point leader aboard the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Textron Off Road/Ford Performance/Curb Records/Sage Fruit/No. 15 sprint car, visited River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, as well as Nodak Speedway in Minot, during the recent weekend, kicking things off at the always-exciting River Cities Speedway on Friday, June 15.

Ultimately resulting in Schatz’s 11th World of Outlaws victory of the season, 13th win overall, the nine-time and defending Series champion was forced to do things the hard way at River Cities, chasing Kerry Madsen for the first 24 circuits before outdueling “The Madman” in traffic on lap 25. The River Cities victory was Schatz’s sixth during his last seven starts at the Grand Forks high-banks.

“Any win with the World of Outlaws is great, but to do it in my home state is even better,” Schatz explained, who now owns in 84-point advantage in the World of Outlaws standings. “River Cities is a fun place to race. We’ve been able to put together a pretty impressive resume there. I owe all of my success to the guys working on this race car. They make my job look easy.”

Schatz concluded his weekend in the Peace Garden State with a third place finish at Nodak Speedway on Sunday evening, June 17. Earning his 21st top-five finish of the 2018 season, Schatz finished third at Nodak, battling by David Gravel and Cory Eliason during the later stages of the event after starting sixth.

Donny Schatz and Tony Stewart Racing will continue their trek toward the 2018 World of Outlaws championship with a pair of stops in Iowa and Wisconsin on Friday and Saturday, June 22-23. The Greatest Show On Dirt will visit Farley (Iowa) Speedway on Friday, followed by a stop at Beaver Dam (Wis.) Raceway on Saturday.
