ST. HELENA, Calif. (May 7, 2018) – St. Helena, California’s Rico Abreu cruised to his sixth top-ten finish of the 2018 season on Saturday night at Sharon (Ohio) Speedway, joining the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 for the inaugural “Buckeye Cup” worth $5,000.

Abreu, driver of the Rico Abreu Racing/Abreu Vineyards/Lucas Oil/Rhino Wipe/Alpinestars/Priority Aviation/No. 24 sprint car, finished eighth during his visit to the Hartford, 3/8-mile oval, starting in the exact same position after finishing fourth during the second of two All Star dashes.

The former Chili Bowl Nationals champion kicked-off his evening at Sharon Speedway by finishing second during heat race competition, automatically qualifying for the evening’s dashes, as well as the 30-lap main event.

The overall result was Abreu’s first top-ten finish of the 2018 season against Tony Stewart’s All Stars, a solid momentum boost as he prepares for an upcoming World of Outlaws doubleheader at The Big E.

“I thought we were a little better than where we finished, but a top-ten feels good. We’ve been working hard this season trying to find a sweet spot within our program. I think we are getting close,” Rico Abreu explained. “We are starting to get into a very busy stretch of the season. I think once we get to race more often, we’ll be able to build some momentum and get where we need to be. We are heading to Eldora this weekend. I’m pretty pumped to get there.”

Rico Abreu will continue his 2018 campaign with a pair of starts at the world-famous Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio, on Friday and Saturday, May 11-12. Dubbed #LetsRaceTwo weekend, Abreu will hunt for back-to-back $10,000 top prizes during his visit to The Big E, working to crack into the win column for the first time in 2018.

Abreu highlighted his 2017 #LetsRaceTwo campaign with a podium run during the weekend finale, ultimately finishing third behind eventual All Star champion, Chad Kemenah, and eventual World of Outlaws champion, Donny Schatz.

The Rico Abreu Racing merchandise van will be parked at Eldora Speedway during the entire #LetsRaceTwo program. Rico Abreu fans are encouraged to visit Meagan at the merchandise van and check out all of the new Rico Abreu Racing apparel options.
