VINCENTOWN, N.J. (April 30, 2018) – With Mother Nature erasing all possibility for a return to Orange County Fair Speedway in Middletown, N.Y., Justin Whittall made the most of his abrupt schedule change and made the tow to Selinsgrove (Pa.) Speedway on Saturday, April 28.
A perfect test session for the upcoming Battle of the Groves, Whittall entered the 360c.i. portion of the evening program at the Selinsgrove half-mile, finishing sixth during heat race competition, all before mounting a charge from 11th to finish eighth during the 25-lap main event. It was Whittall’s first start of the season at Selinsgrove Speedway, resulting in his second top-ten finish of 2018.
“The weather hasn’t been too kind to us lately, but we tried to make the best of the situation and test for next weekend’s visit,” Justin Whittall explained, who unofficially broke the Selinsgrove Speedway 360c.i. sprint car track record during hot laps on Saturday evening. “The track was definitely fast, so passing was at a premium. Regardless, we took some valuable notes so hopefully we get to put them to the test on Saturday. There will be a tough field, but I’m excited.”
Up next on the schedule, Justin Whittall will join the United Racing Club (URC) and ASCS Sprint Car Dirt Series National Tour for a pair of head-to-head battles in Central Pennsylvania. Dubbed the Battle of the Groves, the 360c.i. doubleheader will begin on Friday evening, May 4, at Williams Grove Speedway, followed by a stop at Selinsgrove Speedway on Saturday, May 5.
