GETTYSBURG, Pa. (April 30, 2018) – Representing the Pennsylvania Posse fans well during his visit to Mansfield (Ohio) Motor Speedway, “Double-D” Danny Dietrich earned a top-ten finish during the inaugural Sprint Car World Championship on Saturday evening, April 28, mounting a charge from the outside of row six to finish sixth during the 50-lap, $100,000-to-win finale.
In actuality, Dietrich scored two top-ten finishes during his weekend at Mansfield Motor Speedway, opening the two-day blockbuster with a fifth place finish during preliminary competition on Friday, April 27. Since the Gettysburg native did not finish inside the top-four, an automatic transfer position into the 50-lap finale, Dietrich was forced to participate in one of six heat races on Saturday. The pilot of the Gary Kauffman Racing entry won his respective heat race, eventually lining up 12th for the 50-lapper.
“I’m proud of our results. It was a great weekend for our team,” Danny Dietrich explained, driver of the Gary Kauffman Racing/Weikert’s Livestock/Sandoe’s Fruit Market/Pace Performance/Gsell’s Whitetails/Hickory Run Orchards/Drop Of Ink Tattoo/Sweeney Cars/Self Made/No. 48 sprint car. “I think we had a tire start to go down on Friday night, so I think if that wouldn’t have happened, we may have qualified sooner. The extra laps were nice on Saturday. Things worked out in the end. A big thanks to all of the fans who came out and stuck through everything on boths days. I certainly had fun and plan to go back.”
Up next on the schedule, Danny Dietrich and Gary Kauffman Racing will participate in a trio of events in Central Pennsylvania, ready to visit Williams Grove Speedway, Lincoln Speedway, and BAPS Motor Speedway on Friday through Sunday, May 4-6, respectively. Dietrich will enter the weekend with 14 top-ten finishes to his credit, six of which inside the top-five.
