Caleb Armstrong qualifies for Chili Bowl Nationals A-main; ‘True Outlaw’ schedule ahead

By Fully Injected Motorsports:

NEW CASTLE, IN (January 17, 2018) – Although he was shy of obtaining his ultimate goal of winning a Chili Bowl Nationals title, Caleb Armstrong’s quest for the coveted Golden Driller ended within reach; qualifying for the 55-lap finale on Saturday night and bettering well over 300 entries who made the tow to Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Armstrong, a former preliminary night winner of the world-renowned, midget program, solidified his chance at a Chili Bowl Nationals title by winning the second of two B-mains. The New Castle, Indiana, native would race on to finish 17th.

“Things kinda started out rough, but it ended up really good,” Caleb Armstrong said, who finished fifth during his preliminary main event to set-up his B-main start on Saturday. “The car we ran was brand new from the tires up. And the team was new, also. It was the first time I worked with any of those guys except for Kevin [Besecker]. To go out and put results like that together says a lot. I’m truly proud of our results. Obviously we wanted to run closer to the front on Saturday night, but just making the show is a huge accomplishment. I owe it all to Brian Daugherty, Maria Melillo, Kevin Besecker, and Randy Hannagan.”

After two years of Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions competition, Caleb Armstrong will take a small step back and reset his focus toward a ‘true outlaw’ schedule; hitting and missing local and regional events across much of the Midwest. The pilot of his family-owned, Baker Crop Insurance-backed, No. 7C sprinter will not attend any of the scheduled events in Florida.

“We won’t be heading back to Florida this year,” Armstrong stated. “The plan is to just do our own thing. We had a lot of fun racing with the All Stars the last few years, but our interest now is to hit and miss whatever we want. There are a lot of big races throughout the Midwest that we want to be a part of, All Star events included, but we won’t be following an exact schedule.”
