KUNKLETOWN, PA (October 2, 2017) – After a weekend close to home that included three, full days of World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series competition, the “Kunkletown Kid” Ryan Smith will hop back on the Arctic Cat All Star trail and visit Orrville, Ohio’s Wayne County Speedway on Saturday, October 7.

“Orrville’s Historic Oval” has hosted the Arctic Cat All Stars on four, separate occasions thus far in 2017, most recently on Sunday, September 3, during the annual Pete Jacobs Memorial worth $10,000. Smith finished seventh during the Labor Day weekend showcase, advancing one position after starting on the outside of row four. The “Kunkletown Kid” will enter Wayne County Speedway’s gates second in the Arctic Cat All Star driver championship chase, accumulating 25 top-ten finishes thus far in 2017, one of which a victory in Dundee, New York, worth $5,000.

“It’s hard to believe our All Star schedule only has three races left on it. It has been a long, fun season, but I think we are all a little relieved that we are approaching the end,” Ryan Smith said, pilot of the Tom and Sherry Leidig/Rick’s Auto Body/Auto Electric of Jupiter, FL/Specialty Rigging/Warko Group/No. 59 during All Star events. “I feel like it has been forever since I entered an All Star race. I missed the Four Crown Nationals at Eldora due to my sister’s wedding, and we were off for the National Open this past weekend, so it’s safe to say that I am ready to get back to work.”

During recent action, the “Kunkletown Kid” entered the Champion Racing Oil National Open at Williams Grove Speedway on September 28-30. Joining a field that was comprised of World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series regulars, national invaders, and a handful of regional standouts, Smith highlighted his weekend at “The Grove” with an 18th place finish on Friday, September 29. Smith missed the $50,000-to-win, National Open finale by one position, the result of a fifth place finish during the Saturday night B-main.

“National Open weekend wasn’t the best for us. We were close, but short of our potential, I feel,” Ryan Smith explained. “We’ll bounce back this weekend and hopefully get the No. 59 up front at Wayne County Speedway.”

Despite missing the 40-lap finale at Williams Grove Speedway, Smith did earn the “Just Missed Award” worth over $1100 on behalf of Dirt Track Digest.
