IVERSON, GARDNER ON BOARD FOR WIR BOOK SIGNING AT NORWAY SPEEDWAY JULY 28

(POPULAR U.P. TRACK HOSTS THIRD ANNUAL HALL OF FAME NIGHT AND WILL INDUCT SIX)

 

(NORWAY, MI) – Norway Speedway will resemble something of a time capsule being opened when the races get underway Friday, July 28 at the Dickinson County Fairgrounds.

 

Not only will the track host its third annual Hall of Fame night including six inductees of former racers and track officials, The vintage modified racers will be on hand and regional motorsports author Joe Verdegan will be flanked by a pair of multi-time Norway Speedway champions – “The Hyde Hustler” Bob Iverson and Gladstone’s Mike Gardner for a book signing of the 2016 release “Wisconsin International Raceway – Where The Big Ones Run.”  Both Iverson and Gardner, who were also frequent competitors at WIR over the years, are featured in a chapter titled “Long Haulers.” Iverson was a 2016 HOF inductee.

 

The book signing will commence from 5:30 p.m. until the first green flag flies at 7 p.m.  The first twenty people who purchase a copy of the WIR book or Verdegan’s 2015 book “Life In The Past Lane”, which features former local racers Ron Baciak of Vulcan, Niagara, Wisconsin’s John Ostermann and Norway’s Joe Haferkorn, will receive a free pair of tickets to a “Thursday Night Thunder” race at WIR in Kaukauna good for any of the shows in the month of August.

 

Among the class of 2017 inductees are Menominee’s Gene Coleman, Wausaukee, Wisconsin’s Bob Menor, Baciak, Escanaba’s Dick Peterson, Norway’s Al Bilski and Iron Mountain’s Joe Testolin.  For more information you can check the speedway’s website norwayspeedway.com for more information or check out the track’s page on Facebook.
