4.5″ INCHES OF RAIN ON FRIDAY FORCES CANCELLATION OF RACING SATURDAY NIGHT FOR 2ND STRAIGHT WEEK AT SHARON

By Mike Leone

Hartford, OH July 1, 2017 For the second straight week, Sharon Speedway couldn’t overcome torrential rounds of rain on Friday forcing the cancellation of Saturday night’s “Steel Valley Thunder” program. Some 4.5″ inches of rain fell throughout Friday night leaving the grounds flooded and the parking areas under water. The rescheduled RUSH Sportsman Modified Touring Series event and “Manufacturers Night” will be rescheduled for a later date to be announced.

Coming up next Saturday, July 8 will be the ninth annual “Lou Blaney Memorial” featuring Tony Stewart’s Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions Sprint Cars racing for $5,000 to-win plus the Hovis Auto & Truck Supply Big-Block Modifieds for $3,000 to-win. There will be no racing on July 15 due to the Trumbull County Fair. The Super DIRTcar Big-Block Modifieds return for the second straight year on Thursday, July 20 for a $6,000 to-win event and will be joined by the Mini Stocks for $300 to-win.

Pits and grandstands open early next Saturday at 3 p.m. Grandstand admission is $25 for those 14 and over. Reserved and advanced tickets are available online at SharonSpeedway.com. Patio seating upgrades are just $5 and fan suite seating upgrades are just $20 over the cost of general admission. In order to reserve either of these ahead of time, call the office Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 330-772-5481. As always, children under 13, parking, and camping is always FREE! Pit passes are $30. Sharon has a no carry-in cooler policy.

Sharon Speedway is owned by the Blaney, Weller, and Kirila Families and is a 3/8-mile dirt track located at 3241 Custer-Orangeville Road, Hartford, OH 44424 near the intersection of Routes 7 & 305.
