ST. HELENA, California (March 29, 2021) – Despite a hiccup during Friday’s main event that forced an early retirement, St. Helena, California’s Rico Abreu and the Works Limited 57 team persevered in a big way on Saturday night and cashed in their “DNF” for a podium performance, eventually capping their two-day, Kings of Thunder 360 sprints visit at Tulare’s Thunderbowl Raceway with an impressive rally from ninth to finish second; Abreu’s sixth top-five result in ten starts aboard the ever-familiar Works Limited 57.Certainly no stranger to success on the highbanks of Thunderbowl Raceway, Rico Abreu is the most recent winner of the coveted Trophy Cup, actually sweeping all three nights of the annual program in 2019 to score a grand total of $26,000. The event was not held in 2020 due to the ongoing Covid-19 regulations in California.“Thunderbowl Raceway is my all-time favorite place to race. I cut my teeth on that cushion and we’ve had a lot of success there. I wanted to get a win bad for the Works Limited 57 team, but we were forced to settle for one spot out. Those guys deserve to get a win very soon,” Rico Abreu said, driver of the Works Limited/Curb Records/Lucas Oil Products/No. 57 sprint car. “I am very grateful for the opportunity to drive the 57. That car is strong enough to win on any given night. Unfortunately, it just hasn’t happened yet, but it will.”Set to make his annual journey to the central and eastern time zones, Rico Abreu will continue his 2021 campaign with a long haul to the Show-Me State, set to invade the Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Missouri, for a two-day World of Outlaws visit on Friday and Saturday, April 2-3. The two-day showcase will feature back-to-back programs awarding $10,000 each.Like Tulare, Rico Abreu and success at I-55 go hand-in-hand. The Californian is a two-time Ironman 55 champion at Federated Auto Parts Raceway, winning the $20,000 paydays in consecutive fashion in 2016 and 2017.“We’re excited to see our Midwest fans,” Rico Abreu added. “And we love I-55. Hopefully we can put on a show. It’s a badass place to race.”SOCIAL MEDIA:
