WAYNE COUNTY SPEEDWAY HOSTS 4th ANNUAL BUCKEYE LATE MODEL DIRT WEEK PLUS SPRINTS, SUPER STOCKS & MINI STOCKS ON SATURDAY

  Another big night of racing is scheduled for this Saturday, July 25th at NAPA Jani Auto Parts Wayne County Speedway as the 4th annual Buckeye Late Model Dirt Week rolls in for the Don Gross Memorial with the Pine Tree Towing & Recovery Sprints, the CorBon Super Stocks and the WQKT 104.5 Mini Stocks continuing their points battles.

   It will be a $3,000 to win feature for the Buckeye Late Model Dirt Week show that will be co sanctioned by the Ultimate Mid-Ohio Valley Super Late Model Series and the Ultimate Battle of the Bluegrass Super Late Model Series and will also be the last race of the season for the Attica Raceway Park/Wayne County Speedway Series. Over 60 drivers have indicated that they will run at least part of if not all of the BLMDW series. Parkersburg’s W.Va.’s Tyler Carpenter is the defending series champion while Jackie Boggs has accumulated four wins in the 15 races ran in the first three years, which has been plagued by rain in that time period.

   This will also be the 4th annual Don Gross Memorial. Don, who raced the Mopar #75 all around the region and also promoted WCS, which at the time was known as Buckeye Speedway, in the 80’s and early 90’s. Duane Chamberlain won the 1st BLMDW in 2015 while Jeff Babcock captured the win in 2016. Last years Buckeye Late Model Dirt Week was rained out but the Don Gross Memorial was raced during the Ohio Blowout at ‘Orrville’s Historic Oval’ in September which was won by Doug Drown.

   The Buckeye Late Model Dirt Week will start at Atomic Speedway on Thursday, July 26th and then going to Moler Raceway on Friday before heading the NAPA Jani Auto Parts Wayne County Speedway on Saturday. The Series will pick up again on Friday, August 3rd at Brushcreek Motorsports Complex and wrap up the next night at Portsmouth Raceway with a $5,000 to win feature. The Series winner will get a provisional for the Dirt Track World Championship at Portsmouth Raceway while the second place driver in the points will get a provisional to the Jim Dunn Memorial at the Midway Speedway

   The tight points battle for the other three class’ at WCS will also continue this Saturday as so far in the Pine Tree Towing & Recovery Sprints, no driver has more than one feature win so far this season. Danny Mumaw has a 4 point lead over Jordan Ryan with Trey Jacobs is 34 points behind. Paul Holmes, with 4 feature wins, leads Bob Daugherty by 27 points in the CorBon Super Stocks and 30 points over T A Perrine. In seven races so far this season for the WQKT 104.5 Mini Stocks, Doug Hensel’s worst finish of third twice, gives him a 20 point advantage over Jordan James and a 32 point spread over Cory Staley.

   The Kar Connection Super Late Models sees 5 time Champion Ryan Markham in the lead by 12 over Cody Scott and J R Gentry trails by 47. Cody Scott has a 5 point lead in the Attica Raceway Park/ Wayne County Speedway Series as it heads into it’s final week end with ARP hosting on Friday, July 27 before wrapping up on Saturday at WCS.

   Gates will open at 3 pm with hot laps at 6 pm and first race at 7 pm.
