BROWNSBURG, Ind. (July 2, 2018) – Donny Schatz proved his dominance at Knoxville Raceway once again, this time earning back-to-back podium finishes, one of which a victory, during the two-day Brownells Big Guns Bash on Friday and Saturday, June 29 & 30. For Schatz, the pair of podium finishes at the Marion County Fairgrounds half-mile increased his season top-five count to 24 in 32 World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series starts, still in charge of the Series championship standings by a 102-point margin over Kasey Kahne Racing’s Brad Sweet.

Schatz, driver of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Textron Off Road/Ford Performance/Curb Records/Sage Fruit/No. 15 sprint car, kicked-off his weekend at the Sprint Car Capital of the World with a dominating performance, ultimately leading all 25 laps to secure his 12th World of Outlaws victory of the season during the Brownells Big Guns Bash opener on Friday, June 29. Schatz’s final margin of victory was just shy of four seconds.

Nearly going two-for-two on the weekend, Schatz ended his visit to the famed Knoxville Raceway with a runner-up finish on Saturday, June 30. The Fargo, North Dakota, native led several circuits of the 25-lap program, the first eight to be exact, eventually losing a battle with David Gravel after a lap 17 restart. In fact, Gravel was the only driver to beat Schatz the entire weekend at Knoxville Raceway as the ten-time Knoxville Nationals champion claimed victories during each of his contested heat races and dashes.

“It was a solid weekend for our team. I’m proud of my team and what we were able to accomplish. We wanted to win both of those, but we’ll put that behind us and aim for the bigger prize in August,” Donny Schatz said, who is hunting for a tenth World of Outlaws title in 2018. “We are starting to get into an exciting stretch of the season. A lot of money on the line during the month of July. I think we are all ready to get started.”

Donny Schatz and Tony Stewart Racing will continue their 2018 World of Outlaws title chase with a two-day visit to Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wis., on Friday and Saturday, July 6 & 7, followed by the annual Brad Doty Classic at Attica (Ohio) Raceway Park on Tuesday, July 10. Schatz finished third on back-to-back nights during his visit to Cedar Lake Speedway in 2017, followed by a seventh place run during the 2017 Brad Doty Classic.
