MOTORSPORTS AUTHOR VERDEGAN TO PEN 4TH BOOK

COVERING RACING HISTORY IN MICHIGAN’S UPPER PENINSULA

(projected release in 2020 set)

(Green Bay, WI) – Motorsports author Joe Verdegan has announced his plans to pen a 4th motorsports book covering racing history in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. The book is scheduled to be released sometime in 2020.

To date Verdegan has authored three books covering racing history in Wisconsin. His first book “Life In The Past Lane – a history of stock car racing in Northeast Wisconsin from 1950-1980” was launched in 2015.

Verdegan followed that up with his second book “Wisconsin International Raceway – Where The Big Ones Run” in 2016. His latest book – “Life In The Past Lane – The Next Generation” was released in 2017. Those three books were published by M & B Global Solutions of Green Bay.

Tracks that will be covered in Verdegan’s fourth book include Norway Speedway, Upper Peninsula International Raceway (UPIR) in Escanaba, Sands Speedway in Marquette and Kinross Speedway. Other defunct race tracks history will be included, including several ovals from the Sault St. Marie area Case Road Speedway, Heyden Speedway, Northern Raceway and other former speedways no longer in existence.

“There is so much racing history in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and near the Canadian border that it more than warrants a book covering that rich history,” Verdegan said. “As a teenager I started going to races at Norway and Escanaba in the early 1980’s and I was hooked. There are generations of racers dating back to the modified and coupe days up there. I’m going to give myself a little more time to write this one as we cranked out three books in three years in the past.”

Verdegan is currently the track announcer and public relations director at Norway (MI) Speedway as well as the public relations director at WIR in Kaukauna, Wisconsin.

Verdegan is a 2015 inductee into the Luxemburg Speedway Hall of Fame. He’s been a motorsports track announcer and journalist for more than 35 years writing for Gannett Media, Full Throttle magazine and Midwest Racing News and Checkered Flag Racing News.
