LINDQUIST CAPTURES NORWAY SPEEDWAY’S OPENING NIGHT LATE MODEL FEATURE

(Norway, MI) June 1 – Bark River’s Tom Lindquist sweated out several caution periods and fended off a fierce challenge from defending track champion Dillion Kralovetz and captured the Bink’s Coca Cola late model feature at Norway Speedway Friday night.

The show was run based upon qualifying from opening night since nearly the entire program last week, minus the late model dash, was canceled due to rain.

The race was marred with several yellow flags and Lindquist bided his time, keeping the lead on a restart after a lap nine yellow and never giving up the lead the balance of the race. Kralovetz settled for runnerup money, with hometown driver Dan Lindsley snatching the third spot. Norway’s Jason Wells and Escanaba’s Robby Iverson rounded out the top five finishers.

Defending Auto Value super stock champion Tim Schultz came out swinging, picking up the 30 lap super stock feature. The race was littered with cautions and a high attrition rate, which saw just six of the 13 original starters finish the race.

Kingsford’s Brad Barglind scored a thrilling win with a last lap pass of Neenah’s Tanner Fickel to win the sport truck feature. Fickel had the lead and spun on the frontstretch just prior to crossing the finish line. Andrew Secrist snuck by Fickel for second. Fickel did hang on for third.

Former track champion Joe Ostermann won the 141 Auto sportsman feature while Vulcan’s Cody Skog capped off the night by winning the 4 cylinder feature.

Next Friday night June 8 will be Round 1 of the Auto Value Series. A $1,000-to-win prize is on the line for the Coca Cola late models. The Wisconsin Sport Trucks will also be in action. Racing gets underway at 6:45 p.m.
