ELIDA, Ohio (April 23, 2018) – For the first time in 2018, “Mad Max” Stambaugh earned a top-five performance during All Star Circuit of Champions competition, finishing fifth during Attica Raceway Park’s Core & Main Spring Nationals presented by Fisher Performance on Friday, April 20. Bettering all but three of the 47 other entries signed-in for action at the Attica highbanks, Stambaugh finished fourth during the $5,000-to-win program, starting from the outside-pole position by way of dash victory, set-up by finishing fourth during his respective heat race.

The Elida, Ohio, native battled within the top-five during the entire 40-lap program, pressuring for the lead early before settling for fourth at the line. Impressive enough, Stambaugh’s All Star top-five occurred with a hurt powerplant, discovering an engine issue once action was complete.

“We were fast all night. That’s what it takes to finish well in those All Star races; you have to put an entire evening together and that starts with qualifying,” Stambaugh said, who pilots his family-owed/Lima Cadillac Chevrolet/Biggies Coast to Coast/No. 5M sprint car. “It feels good to accomplish something like that. That was one of the toughest fields I’ll get to race against all season and to say we finished in the top-five is pretty awesome. Unfortunately, we discovered an issue with our motor that may take some time fix. I’m not sure of the plan just yet, but originally we had Mansfield’s World Championship circled on our calendar. We’ll see what happens this week.”

If things go according to plan, “Mad Max” Stambaugh will make the journey east to Mansfield Motor Speedway in Mansfield, Ohio, this Thursday through Saturday, ready to challenge the best in sprint car racing for a $100,000 top prize during the inaugural Sprint Car World Championship. Action will begin on Thursday, April 26, with a full round of practice, followed by preliminary competition on Friday, and the $100,000-to-win finale on Saturday.

Stambaugh’s most recent visit to Mansfield Motor Speedway resulted in a top-ten performance, finishing seventh against the All Star Circuit of Champions during Double Down weekend in early October.
