Luftgekühlt 5 Posters Previewed

With Luftgekühlt 5 around the corner – the event takes place on Sunday, April 22, 2018, 9am-3pm at Ganahl Lumber Company South Bay in Torrance, CA – it’s time to clear some wall space in your living room, garage or workshop.

The show organizers – racing driver Patrick Long and designer Howie Idelson – have a tradition of creating distinctive artwork for each event, and Luftgekühlt 5 will see a number of collectible event posters available for purchase.

The official Luftgekühlt 5 event poster artwork has been created by Los Angeles native and Art Center College of Design graduate Brian Kesling. Two versions of this poster will available for aficionados of collectible wall art portraying the Le Mans-winning 964 Porsche 911 RSR, which itself is a featured car at Luft 5.

The first version is printed on 24×36” stock and will be on sale exclusively at the event. The second version, featuring the same image but in a smaller 18×24” size will, in a first for Luftgekühlt, be made available for sale online-only on the morning of the show at shop.luftgekuhlt.com/

Pirelli is also providing an 18×24” lithograph version of Kesling’s 964 RSR artwork. This is uniquely printed on a dark blue background and will be given away to visitors to the Pirelli Collezione gallery within the show.

The second of Kesling’s commissioned artworks is an image described as a 1980s-style, fun representation of the Luftauto rally car project. It measures 18×24” and will be available from the show.

Finally, longtime Luft collaborator Carby Tuckwell has returned to create a unique artwork of Vic Elford’s Porsche 908K prototype racecar, which is another featured car within the show. Tuckwell’s image will be available at Luftgekühlt 5 as a limited-edition, 13×19” hand screen-printed poster, produced by boutique printer Hit + Run.

All five posters represent a wonderful way to capture and remember the unique character and atmosphere of Luftgekühlt 5. All are available in very limited numbers for owners and fans of air-cooled Porsches.

ABOUT LUFTGEKÜHLT

In the Porsche vernacular, Luftgekühlt represents all the air-cooled cars in the manufacturer’s history, from the Pre-A 356 through the 993 model line, which ended in 1998.

The Luftgekühlt brand is the brainchild of two-time Le Mans class winner Patrick Long and noted Southern California creative director Howie Idelson

A true Porsche happening, Luftgekühlt is an experiential car culture event centered around a tightly curated list of historically significant or interesting cars, both race and street. There Is no set formula for our events, but we’re excited by cool venues, fun people, and creative expression, so you can bet those elements will always be included. The team strives to develop wild ideas that celebrate the passion we have for all things air-cooled, including exciting collaborations with likeminded people and brands.
