NORWAY SPEEDWAY RELEASES 2018 SCHEDULE

(season opener slated for Friday May 25)

 

(Norway, MI)  Feb. 8– Officials of the Dickinson County Racing Association (DCRA) have released the 2018 schedule of racing at Norway Speedway, located at the Dickinson County Fairgrounds.

 

16 dates of racing are planned at the third-mile, paved oval with the season’s lid lifter kicking off Memorial Day weekend on Friday, May 25.

 

Among the highlights of the season are the 35th running of the annual Stateline Challenge presented by Island Resort & Casino & Aurora Liquors Friday, July 6. The event will also play host to the Kent Pearson Memorial. Pearson himself was a two time winner of the event. Many past winners of this prestigious event will be honored on the track during a ceremony at intermission.

 

The Northern Michigan Triple Crown, which typically draws drivers from fellow Upper Peninsula tracks Sands Speedway and Kinross Raceways will be Friday June 15.

 

A huge fireworks display will be part of the Roy Allard, Ed Hedlund and Jimmy Peterson Memorial Night Friday, June 29 while the immensely popular Norway Speedway Hall of Fame night, featuring the vintage modifieds will be Friday July 27.

 

Racing is tentatively scheduled twice during the Dickinson County Fair on Labor Day weekend. Friday August 31 will showcase the super stocks with the spectator eliminator championship rounds. The season wraps up during the fair Sunday September with a 100 lap super late model feature.

 

The Wisconsin sport trucks will continue with roughly an every other week schedule. The Impact Survival Series (ISS) will host its popular four cylinder series Saturday August 25.

 

The DCRA awards banquet will be held at Island Resort & Casino in Harris Saturday, October 27.

 

Pit gates open at 3 p.m. weekly with the grandstand opening at 5 p.m.. Qualifying begins at 5:45 p.m. with the first green flag flying at 7 p.m.
