Brent Marks battles through National Open; Fulton visit ahead

By Fully Injected Motorsports:

MYERSTOWN, PA (October 4, 2017) – Brent Marks’ maiden voyage with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series is nearing completion. Less than a dozen dates remain on the 2017 schedule, and with the next few events within commuting distance of his Central Pennsylvania race shop, Marks will get an opportunity to catch up on some much needed rest and relaxation.

Fulton Speedway in Fulton, New York, is next on the Outlaw trail. The Super Dirt Week special event will host the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series on Saturday, October 7; the first and only visit to Fulton Speedway in 2017. Marks is certainly no stranger to the Empire State venue during World of Outlaws competition, capturing a top-ten finish during his visit in 2016. The “Myerstown Missile” will enter the weekend 11th in the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series standings, earning 19 top-ten finishes to date.

“It’s easy to be excited about going back to a track where you’ve been successful,” Marks said. “We had a great run at Fulton Speedway last year, so naturally, we’ll head back there with a positive attitude. We are always working to improve, so I don’t think a top-five is out of the question.”

The World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series Rookie of the Year contender is coming off of a four-race stretch at the famed Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. Complete with four main events in three days, the Champion Racing Oil National Open was the main attraction, highlighted with the $50,000-to-win, National Open finale on Saturday, September 30. When the dust settled on Saturday night, Marks had earned four main event starts, finishing as high as 11th, but no worse than 18th; a feat accomplished amongst a field of the nation’s finest.

“The National Open is one of the toughest events in the country. With something that special close to home, I was thankful just to be a part of it,” Marks explained. “We had the opportunity to race in front of all of our families and supporters. We were just shy of a top-ten finish on a few nights, but racing with that level of talent, just making the show can be a big challenge. I’m proud of what we were able to accomplish.”

Marks’ 11th place finish occurred during the National Open preliminary main event on Thursday, September 28; he finished 12th during the $50,000-to-win finale.
