Marks Qualifies for Gold Cup; Excited for Calistoga Debut

MYERSTOWN, PA (September 14, 2017) – This portion of the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series schedule is tough even for the most experienced teams. Six races in eight days across three states concluded this past Saturday at the Silver Dollar Speedway where Brent Marks and his crew made their inaugural visit the night before.
Brent Marks qualified for the Gold Cup Race of Champions, no easy task with 40 cars signed in, including the best of the West Coast, in attendance. After falling a lap down, Marks went pit-side to avoid interfering with the race and was scored 24th. The night before resulted in Marks’ only DNQ on the West Coast as he was bounced out of a transfer spot by another competitor in his heat race. “Chico was tough. It was definitely a different type of animal. It was definitely different than anything I’ve ever raced on before and we learned a lot over the weekend. I’m looking forward to getting back there next year,” Marks, pilot of the Brent Marks Racing/M&M Painting & Construction/BAPS Auto Paint & Supply/ Eagle Hotel/No. 19, said.
The highlight of the West Coast trip, thus far, was Marks’ effort at the Willamette Speedway in Oregon where Marks scored a strong seventh place finish from his 13th starting position. Throughout the four races in Washington and Oregon, Marks passed an impressive 21 cars during main event competition.
After a few days at home with the family, Brent Marks returns to complete the West Coast tour at the scenic Calistoga Speedway Friday and Saturday September 15 and 16. “I am really looking forward to Calistoga. I think it fits my driving style,” Marks said. After a month of short tracks, Calistoga will be the first half-mile the World of Outlaws have seen since the Black Hills Speedway in South Dakota, where Marks scored a strong top-ten finish.
