Open Wheel Championships on deck for Caleb Armstrong

By Fully Injected Motorsports:

NEW CASTLE, IN (August 23, 2017) – New Castle, Indiana’s Caleb Armstrong will continue his 2017 Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions campaign with a visit to the Atomic Speedway in Chillicothe, Ohio, on Friday and Saturday, August 25-26; the final Arctic Cat All Star appearance at the southern Ohio venue of 2017.

The 3rd Annual Open Wheel Championships will highlight the weekend agenda featuring two, full Arctic Cat All Star programs awarding $5,000 on Friday and $10,000 on Saturday.

Armstrong’s recent visits to Atomic Speedway resulted in two top-five finishes, crossing under the final checkers fifth in the running order during the 2017 Ohio Sprint Speedweek presented by Cometic Gasket finale on June 26, as well as fourth during the Freedom 40 sanctioned by the Ohio Sprint Car Series.

“We are definitely ready to get back to Atomic Speedway. We’ve shown a lot of speed there. We just need to capitalize on our starting spots a little bit better,” Armstrong explained, who earned a pole and second row starting spot during his last two Atomic Speedway appearances with the Arctic Cat All Stars. “Central Pennsylvania was pretty tough on us, so hopefully we can rebound this weekend and work for another big win.”

The pilot of the Baker Crop Insurance/Neal Metal Recycling/All-Star Performance/Armstrong Farms/No. 7C spent his most recent weekend of competition in Central Pennsylvania, joining “America’s Series” for four consecutive events at four different facilities all through Pennsylvania Posse country. The weekend proved to be difficult for the recent Great Lakes Dirt Nationals champion, highlighting all four starts with a 12th place performance at Susquehanna Speedway in York Haven on Sunday, August 20. Armstrong started 16th on the main event grid, qualifying for the $5,000-to-win program by finishing fourth during heat race competition.

In addition to his results at Susquehanna, Armstrong was scored 20th at Grandview Speedway on August 17 and 25th during his start at the “Fabulous” Lincoln Speedway on August 19. Despite his finishes equaling less than expectation, Armstrong remains third in the Arctic Cat All Star championship, earning 15 top-ten finishes to date.

“We had some bad luck this weekend, but that will come and go,” Armstrong said. “We had some motor trouble at Grandview and that kinda set the tone for the entire weekend. I was happy to rebound for a solid finish at Susquehanna Speedway. We enjoy racing in Central Pennsylvania. It’s a challenge, but a ton of exposure.”
