In front of a big crowd on Hall’s Auto Sales night along with the finish of Kid’s Night, Cale Conley of Vienna WV would take the lead on lap 4 of the Ohio Sprint Car Series and then hold off a fast closing Cole Duncan in last three laps for his 1st win at Napa Wayne County Speedway. Trevor Baker set the pace for the first three laps before Conley placed his #7k into the top position as hometown driver Dean Jacobs took over second on lap nine and then Duncan and fast qualifier Carson Macedo would move Baker back to fifth on the next circuit. Macedo and Baker would go back and forth for fourth until lap 20 when Macedo took control of fourth for good. Conley would build up a half straight away lead over Duncan, who took second from Jacobs on lap 12, but with lap traffic looming late in the race, Duncan closed in looking for his second OSCS win of the season at ‘Orrville’s Historic Oval’. As they went into turn three for the final time Conley dropped to the low groove to block Duncan’s move for the lead and win. Jacobs would hold off Macedo’s late race charge to claim third while Brandon Wimmer edged past Baker with two laps to go for fifth. Duncan, Jacobs, Conley and Nick Patterson bested the heat races while NAPA WCS drivers Tyler Dunn, Jason Dolick, Danny Mumaw and Troy Kingan transferred out of the last chance race in that order.

For the Kar Connection Super Late Models, it was the last night of the Attica Raceway Park/ Napa Wayne County Speedway Series and at the drop of the green flag, Charlie Duncan would out race Larry Bellman into turn one for the lead as Wooster’s J R Gentry sat on Duncan’s rear bumper and on the next circuit would take the point from Duncan and never looked back to put the McDonalds of Wayne County, BCI Buckeye Division and El Campesino Restaurant #14 into the Summit Racing winners circle for the second time this season. From his 7th starting position, Doug Drown pulled into third in front of Cody Scott on lap three and then the two #240’s of Hall’s Auto Sales would battle back and forth for the next several laps before Drown secured second at the halfway mark. A caution with three laps to go bunched the field together but Gentry would pull away from Drown on the restart to solidify the win. Duncan would score a third place finish with Scott in fourth while heat two winner Bellman passed Ben Mott on the final restart to claim fifth. In the battle for the ARP/WCS title, Ryan Markham would start the night with an eight point lead but with Drown winning the heat race and the 5 points bonus for the heat win, it would be just 3 point advantage at the start of the feature. Just two laps into the feature, Markham would pull off with mechanical issues and with Drown finishing second, Drown would claim the ARP/ WCS title, his second in four years. He would also claim the Innovative Graphics Most Heat wins award by winning four heat races in the Series. Markham will finish second and Cody Scott third in the two track series.

In the Lowes Super Stock class, the winner of the previous weeks feature must start in the highest redraw position providing they make the redraw in their heat race and for the third time this season, Mansfield’s Bob Daugherty has turned the trick as he came from his eighth starting spot and took the lead on lap 7 and went on to collect his 7th win of the year. Dustin Daugherty would set the pace for the opening four laps of the caution filled feature as Paul Holmes took control for the next two circuits before Bob Daugherty would place the Char’s Cars, McKenzie Concrete and Gioninni’s Pizza #21d out front. Dustin Daugherty and Holmes would duel for second but Dustin would drop off the pace with mechanical issues and on lap 10, Holmes would spin in turn four, giving second place to Jordan James. The final half of the feature, James would hound Bob Daugherty but could never make the move to get by and would take home second. Holmes would work his way back through the field to finish third while Jim Nicely ran fourth. Gary Hensel Jr. was challenging for the lead early in the race, would have to change a tire during a caution and came back to fill out the top five. Bubba Smith and Bob Daugherty scored the heat wins.

Extra incentive was on the line for the WQKT 104.5 Mini Stocks as Directional Hydraulics kicked in a $300 bonus to the winner and Wooster’s Doug Hensel and his M & S Concrete #18 grabbed the lead from Michael Stewart on lap two of the feature and never looked back although 8th starting Brad Hensel closed quickly in the last two laps of the caution free race. Jordan James would finish third as Stewart would drop to fourth and Dustin Bedlion came from 14th to take fifth. Heat winners were Doug and Brad Hensel, Taylor Mazzoleni and Stewart while Randy Gibson topped the last chance race followed by Brent Boreman, Sean Rush and Jess Hensel.

The Contingency Connection ‘Racer’s Rewards’ for the drivers were up for grabs once again for the night and for the season with nearly $100,000 for the season available to the drivers.

Next Saturday night, August 26th, it will be Season Championship for all four class’ with double points on the line to decide the 2017 NAPA Wayne County Speedway track champions.
