WIR “WEATHERED OUT” FOR THURSDAY AUGUST 3
(BLUE RACE ON TAP FOR AUGUST 10)
(KAUKAUNA, WI) – Forecast wet, rainy weather has forced Fox River Racing Club (FRRC) officials to pull the pin and cancel the planned “Thursday night Thunder” racing action for Wisconsin International Raceway in Kaukauna for Thursday, August 3.
Next Thursday night, August 10th WIR will host the “Blue Race.” The final leg of the Red, White and Blue state championships are presented by Budweiser/DUKE FM and NAPA Auto Parts.
Taking a look at Red, White and Blue points in the super late model class just 10 points separate the top ten, with Montello’s Bobby Kendall leading Appleton’s Andy Monday and Reedsville’s Maxwell Schultz, who are tied for second just two points behind Kendall. In the late model division Manitowoc’s Travis Rodewald holds a seven point advantage over fellow rookie Jesse Bernhagen of Markesan.
With four nights of FRRC points racing left on Thursday nights Monday continues to hold a 25 point lead over Neenah’s Lowell Bennett and Reedsville’s Maxwell Schultz, who are tied for second. The Appleton driver is gunning for his first ever WIR Thursday night super late model championship.
A pair of rookies sit atop the late model division point standings. Bernhagen holds a slim four point edge over Rodewald. Appleton’s Bryan Monday is in third 15 points out of first place. Appleton’s Rick Glaser holds an eight point advantage over Neenah’s Don Thomson in the Sizzlin’ 4 division while De Pere’s Brett Van Horn has a comfortable 48 point advantage over Appleton’s Kyle Quella in the sport trucks.
Defending super stock champion Dylan Wenzel of Fremont currently has a 50 point lead over the team of Jessie Van Roy/Craig Vandewettering of Kaukauna.
