Tony Talks 1-3-11

WOW !!!!! Is it really January 3rd? Time flies when you are having fun and boy has the off season been a lot of fun for me !!!! Let me start by saying last winter the web shows were so much fun we had a blast and enjoyed every show! How ever I would put in 40 hours a week trying to get guests and people to each place. Also Scott spent endless hours making sure we had a venue to be at. We had to have a sound man and it was a lot of work. All worth it but a lot of work. Also to broadcast live was darn near impossible as each place had different internet and the show needs a high band with to work well. With all this said Scott and I decided to re group this winter and take the time off to focus on MSZ and MW! We will be back with web shows no worries racing needs shows like that to help fans and non fans a like understand us as the close nit people we are.

Speaking of close nit I have to commend you all for what you do for our racing family when we are in need. I have personally been so touched by how we come together in a time of need to help one and other survive and show each other the love and respect we have no matter what happens on race day. Thanks to Jason Seltzer for stepping up in the recent hard luck of a friend in need and spending his free time helping. Also thanks to Jimmy Brown for all you have done this winter. Its nice to see people step up and never want anything for it. So many others have done the same thing and you show the world why we love short track racing.

Well silly season is in full force in short track racing as face book is a buzz with who will win championships and who will race where. Neat to see all the picks all over and see what everyone thinks. For me I think 2012 will bring great racing and big wins to the little guys who strive to make it fun. I am sure you have all heard the silly season news about me and where I will spend time at this summer so let me help ease your minds or make you same dam was hoping you were gone lol ! I will be back behind  the MIC at New Paris as I ring in my 6th year with the track. I started off as the flagman and then when Jerry Cannon got sick I stepped into his shoes. Shoes in which I will never fully fill or even try to for that matter. I will how ever always end every writing and every night with his famous saying!!! I look forward to entertaining my home track fans and have a good time each Saturday with you all. Nothing better than hearing the crowd cheer and who am I kidding NPS you show how we do it !!!!

I will also be at the M 40 Speedway on Friday Nights as the race director. No talking on the PA for me I will just handle the operations of the track and try to put on the best show I can for all of you fans who call M 40 YOUR HOME FOR FRIDAY NIGHT RACING! We will also be taking MSZ to M 40 Speedway on Friday giving you Michigan drivers and fans a chance to shine and getting other advertisers and drivers some TV time. A lot of big changes and big things planned for M 40 and we sure hope you drop what ever thoughts you have in your head about the track or owners and give us another try as Scott and I know you will not be disapointed. Scott will be co promoting along side Kevin and we plan to make this team work and make sure everyone leaves with a good taste !!!! We open up the last week of April and race till mid October so stop on out and enjoy some great racing !!!!! You can also catch MSZ every Sunday at 5pm on SBT2.

Galesburg is planning to reopen. Kzoo has dropped mods and will bring in mini stocks. Plymouth is adding a dirt track. Berlin has new promoters. Mottville has added a new class. Angola may not open this year. Baer Field is ready to go racing hoping to draw cars that would have raced at Angola. Dixie has new folks in charge as does Springport. Shady Bowl was repaved. South Bend is moving forward at a rapid pace with updates and improvements. M 40 has made a lot of good changes in the off season. A lot of new rookie drivers all across Michiana and a lot of young drivers coming back to the sport.

Well the off season has been very busy for us here at MSZ/MW and we are stoked that the new year is here and we are ready to get back into racing. Before we do that we will take part of a few banquets and get the word out about short track racing. We have NPS, MSZ, M 40, and Mottville banquets we will go to. Speaking of the MSZ Banquet..... wow what a response for tickets and votes. It was unreal ! Thank you to all of you for making it work so well. Next year we will change it a little to make the voting better. We will have nominees to vote for and narrow down so of the categories. No worries this voting and banquet will go on for  a while we love it.

Well last bit of business for me this winter is to get my own car well truck ready. Yellow Mind Racing has decided to own a mini stock again in 2012. Justin Graber has been named the driver and we will focus on running M 40 and NPS.

A lot going on and racing is weeks away !!!! Sounds crazy I tell ya but its here and I am more stoked for 2012 than I have been in years. Things are looking for us right here in Michiana and we are coming off of some great and amazing car counts after all the big year end shows of 2011. Well thats gonna do it for me folks. Keep your eyes on mwracingnews.com and we will keep you up to date on all things racing.

Well race fans until next time we will see you at the races !!!! (RIP Jerry Cannon)
