Tony Talks 11-3-11

Well this week has been a little busy so I am turning this here article in a Lil late. A lot of neat stuff happening in the racing world and a lot that leaves me shaking my head and wondering. 
 
First off was happy to work at Mottville again last weekend as it is a lot of fun and no stress. Decent car count as well as 22 cars on hand for the end of October who can complain. Al Maruer and Steve Woods had a great battle in the street stocks.  Eric Frazier had his hands full with up and coming super star Bobby Laughter in the mini stocks and Todd Roberts won the fwd. Dave Logan won the mini stocks. I get carried away and like to cheer really loud and during the pure stock heat I was so excited !!!! Mike Yucullo won his first ever race!!! I was really happy for him and glad to finally meet him. Jamison and I loved the name when he raced at New Paris and come to find out he is a heck of a guy with a neat story. Also was excited to see Justin Graber in only his second start lead some laps and finish 3rd !!  
 
Well Mottville rained out on Sunday and everyone has something to say about it. I was asleep and got the message from Merle early Sunday. Allow me to explain Merle to you all. He does not cancel and has even raced in the rain a time or two and gets beat up for it. He  has a church in Ft Wayne. On Sundays he starts his day really early and ends it late after Mottville. With it being the end of the year he wanted to get the program in and decided to do what he thought was best and postpone it, When he is at church from 8 to 12 or 1 in the afternoon he has no contact with the outside world. Thus making it impossible to decide at noon to race or not. I know we all have a disagreement about the track but the one thing I will say is this. He likes racing on Saturday so he can have a life too. A lot of us asked him to go to Sundays and he did. We did not take into account that he "works" all day then rushes to the track. He gives us a place to go whether you love him or hate him you have to see his side and say thanks for giving up your day and your church to rush to Mottville. 
 
With that said we will race again this Saturday at Mottville with gates opening at 3 racing at 4pm. Top 5 get a trophy and should be a good field of cars from what I hear. 
 
Well the end of the year is here and everyone is done racing till 2012 or the indoor shows this winter and I am left thanking the tracks for giving us a place to do what we love. I have a complaint about every track , owner, heck even every driver but I choose to look at the good instead of the bad and see it for what it is a hobby a sport and the thing I love most. We need to be thankful for having race tracks and stop looking for the bad.  
 
Well a lot of you have asked about the web shows. Season one was bigger and better than we could have ever planned. 250 guests from 4 states. over 75 people at almost every show. Folks talking racing all winter long and how about promoters and announcers from 8 tracks in one room huh? We do plan on getting them going again soon we just have a lot on our plates at MSZ/MW and are working on huge things for 2012. 
 
The MSZ banquet will be Jan 28th I think and this is going to be great. Good food cheap drinks and neat awards. Thank you to all of you have voted and a special thank you to Mrs. Connie as if you only knew what this crazy lady is doing you would laugh daily like me!!! Yes I know its you but its awesome! We will hand out plaques or a trophy to each winner as well as pay the points fund to the MSZ/NPS Late Models so it will be a good night for sure. 
 
We are also working on covering MMA fights this winter so stay tuned for that and we will have an actual studio and office for MSZ by the end of the month so a lot going on for us!
