Tony Talks Week 2

As rain fell all over Michiana some tracks closed early while others waitied it out. Kalamazoo, Berlin, Galesburg and Angola all shut down early this past weekend but at New Paris we waitied it out until 6 pm when the rain just kept coming and we were forced to shut the gates. Two local tracks still had high hopes and I went to South Bend to see my good friends the Browns. I tell you what 3 New Paris guys headed that way and Steve , Tom, and Jenn very so very nice. Car count was down as was fan count but we were treated to some good hard racing. Good count of street stocks and mini stocks but the late models saw only 5 drivers try to return to the Bend. It was awesome to see my really good friend Ronnie Mclean turn some laps in a late model. Ronnie was out front in charge for the first 7 laps then a high side move put Rich Boal in the lead. Ronnie held on to second over Jeff Ganus Mike Tutino and Lisa McFadden. Cindy Stremme looked good out there in the lavnder #36. Good group of mini stocks on hand as well. Eric Frazier came in late and looked pretty sporty last to second in the heat and last to 5th in the rain shortened feature. Dale Oliver picked up the win over Rich Hensley. Bobby Stremme driving a fwd won that feature was neat to see him having some fun. Ryan Powell looked so good in the sportsman have  not ever seen him drive with his heart like he did Saturday. Andrew Devresse won his heat at his frist ever trip to the Bend that was pretty neat. Over all a good time and was nice to see a lot of old faces.

New Paris is the funniest track I have ever been to. Pouring down rain and cars still pull in the gate like nothing. Had almost 20 cars I counted come in during the heaviest part of the rain. Two weeks in a row we have had to deal with mother nature and it amazes me how many people still come out in the rain.

Mottville ended up raining out Sunday so it was a short weekend for me. This week is looking good with so many good races to go all weekend long.  So here is your weekend preview for May 20, 21, and 22. By the way a lot of tracks racing this weekend this is wjere you will find me all weekend !

Friday:

Plymouth Speedway (Opener FREE PIT PASS TO DRIVERS a lot of big classes and new promoter )

Saturday:

New Paris Speedway ( GREAT car counts 3 weeks in a row even in the rain)

Sunday:

Mottville or Baerfield not sure where to go  (Asphalt wars sounds good maybe take the Racing 4 Kids FWD )

So a busy rain free weekend I hope . As I always say doesnt matter where you go just get out and go to ANY local short track and help keep short track racing alive.

Until next time race fans WE WILL SEE YOU AT THE RACES (Jerry Cannon)
