After a rain out the week before, Crystal Motor Speedway played host to the Engine Pro Sprints on Dirt, presented by ARP on a chilly Saturday night. The sprint show is always well received and despite the temps, the stands were busy.

The Engine Pro Sprints On Dirt presented by ARP season opener at Crystal Motor Speedway as Castalia, Ohio’s Jordan Ryan led green to checkered for the win.  Ryan, in a 410, won over Matt Foos in a 305 normally driven by Kelsey Ivy.  Foos stayed within striking distance of Ryan all race long, but never had a chance to challenge the leader.  Dain Naida, started 5th and appeared to get better as the race went on, and took 3rd from Max Stambaugh at the finish. The B main fell to Dan McCarron while heats were collected by Dain Naida, Max Stambasugh, and Matt Foos. (Courtesy of the SOD Sprints writer Adrianne Irwin.)

Scott Baker put on a heck of a show to win the KFC Late Model feature over Mathew Chapman and Ryan VanderVeen.  VanderVeen had been running high in the field when a mid race caution event sent him to the rear. Josh Borton had an excellent race, finally grabbing the fourth position followed by Josh Knoll, Megan Carpenter, Michael Archer, Amanda Wing, Bryant Dickinson, and Ryan Kent. Wing and Chapman scored B Mains with heats falling to Carpenter, Travis Stemler, and Knoll.

Mike Shanteau took the early lead in the Lane Automotive IMCA Modified IMCA feature event and then held off comers to take the win. Gary VanderMark, Myron DeYoung, Nick Stormzand, and John DeYoung all working to over take the leader. Sixth went to John Taylor, Ken Zeigler, Dan Wiggins II, AJ Ward, and Jimmy Hale Jr. Hale advanced to the main feature by winning the B Main. Stormzand, VanderMark, and Myron DeYoung grabbed heat events.

Races On The Web Flinn Stock division. Matt Taylor brought home a second, followed by Ronald Fuhrman, Mike Currier, Jerry Powell, Robert Goodall, Kyleah Baker, Dillon Kohn, Kolby Rohn, and Rusty Sowles. Heats were claimed by Currier and Sowles.

TJ Gilbert, Don Rohn, Nate Jones, and Jeramie Raby were all in the queue to come home the winner in the Port City Racing Pro Stock feature, but Gilbert got out front and claimed the win. Blake Hollenbeck grabbed fifth, followed by Derek Schestag, Jaycee Baker, Matthew Muha, Eric Baird, and Paul Denny. Preliminary heats were won by Mike VanderMark Jr. and Rohn.

The Engine Pro Pro Truck event was one of the closest races of the night with an exciting fight for position battle between Mickey Currier and Paul Grosnickle and was finally won by Currier. Jim Beltz closed the night with a third, followed by Matt Pickard, Curtis Rice, Kenny Dittenber, Scott Lutterloh, Chris Malek, Rob Putt, and Scott Harris.
