FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NASCAR STARS AND MORE AT BAER FIELD SPEEDWAY THIS WEDNESDAY

This Wednesday night, the “Action Attraction” on the south side, Fort Wayne’s BAER FIELD SPEEDWAY, will present one of the biggest racing extravaganzas of the year with the inaugural running of the $10,000 to-win “Kenny Wallace 100” for Outlaw Super Late Models. Along with the cars, the stars of the evening will be NASCAR’s KENNY WALLACE and DAVID STREMME!

Coming on the heels of a hugely popular appearance in 2013, Speedway officials decided to bring the fan-favorite Outlaw Super Late Models back for a pair of shows this year. Both Wednesday’s “Kenny Wallace 100” and the July 16, “Three Rivers Festival 100” will go 100-laps around the historic half-mile and award $10,000 to the race winner along with an additional $5,000 in bonus money for the top finishers in the two-race series. With the chance to win $25,000 in just two starts, the best-of-the-best will be on hand Wednesday. Headng up the list of pre-race favorites will be 2013 “TRF 100” winner “Flyin’ Brian” Ross who not only returns in the potent Bobby Blount-prepared Toyota, but comes armed with a teammate in Michigan hot shoe Steve Needles. Also expected will be all-time leading Baer Field feature-winner “Lightning Larry” Zent and area-favorite “The Hurricane” Scott Hantz, plus Terry Senneker Jr., J.R. Roahrig, Harold Fair Jr., Bud Perry, and many more!

For both drivers, appearing at Baer Field will be a bit of a homecoming. Wallace, a former NASCAR Nationwide Series “Rookie of the Year” and three-time “Most Popular Driver” with over 900 career NASCAR starts and now a NASCAR television commentator, first came to Baer Field in 1978 as a mechanic on cars driven by his older brother (and NASCAR “Hall of Famer”) Rusty. In a breakout season for the St. Louis native, Rusty and Kenny made three trips to Baer Field that summer and won all three times, including his first-ever win in American Speed Association competition. Wallace will be on hand to serve as Grand Marshall for the event which bears his name and will meet and greet fans, before putting on his “game-face” and climbing into the Modified of Jerry Brown to compete against a top-level field of local and regional stars for 50-laps around the 3/8th-mile short track.

Fresh off an appearance in Sunday’s NASCAR “Quicken Loans 400” at Michigan International Speedway, South Bend’s David Stremme is also a former NASCAR Nationwide Series “Rookie of the Year” with nearly 350 career NASCAR starts. Part of a racing family that now spans four generations, David first came to Baer Field to watch both his father and mother compete and later returned to win races himself. Stremme will be competing in the 100-lap Super Late Model portion of the show in his own Chevrolet.

On Wednesday, the spectator gates will open at 4; with qualifying at 5:30; and RACING at 7:30! Adults $20; kids 6-12 $5; and 5 and-under FREE! There will also be an open practice Tuesday from 5-9 pm.
