WIR’S NEW ¼ LATE MODEL CLASS GAINS DIVISION, NIGHTLY SPONSORSHIP

(KAUKAUNA, WI) – The newly renamed WIR ¼ mile late models, the division that will run six Thursday nights at Wisconsin International Raceway in Kaukauna in 2017, has acquired a division sponsor and nightly sponsors to absorb their cost.

Auto Body Specialist in Menasha has signed on as the division sponsor for the class – renamed from the “Outlaw late models” in 2016. “Basically the whole deal in getting this class back was to create a truly affordable late model class back on the quarter-mile,” said division driver Pete Berken of Appleton. Berken’s a two-time Fox River Racing Club sportsman champion on the ¼ mile. “You can go late model racing on the quarter-mile and not spend a ton of money on shocks or tires. It’s a very affordable way to get into late model racing.”

RaceTech chassis of Neenah has signed on to sponsor the class for the Budweiser/DUKE FM/ L & S Electric Red Race June 8 while Hank & Karen’s Pub and Grill of Appleton will sponsor the division on June 29th for the Stockbridge Engineering Joe Schneider Memorial Fireworks night.

Right Foot Performance Products of Appleton will sponsor the Vanderloop Equipment-Scott Vanderloop Memorial White race July 13.  B & B Race Engines of Appleton will sponsor the division for the Standard Electric/Bruce Mueller  All Star Memorial 50 July 27.

Milltown Still and Grill of Combined Locks will support the division for the Budweiser/DUKE FM/NAPA Ball Auto Parts Blue race August 10.

Dick & Joan’s Supper Club of Appleton will sponsor the class for the season finale on Valley Liquor Fan Appreciation night August 31st.

“All of these sponsors want to see this affordable division be successful and be part of the regular program for 2018,” said FRRC club president Jim Duchow, a major backer of the division. “We are expecting close to 10 cars for the opener this year and a bigger field as the year goes on.”
